Wrye Bash 0.6.0 damaging oblivion.ini

I've reinstalled Oblivion and was loosely following Hishtup's STEP guide. Wrye Bash 0.6.0 is what I decided to use as my mod installer. It DOES install mods but it also damages oblivion.ini in some way that I still haven't figured out.

When I click on oblivion.ini and edit it in Notepad, all the lines are contiguous, scrambled together, with no noticeable separate lines. Loading that same ini file into wordpad or notepad++ displays each separate line correctly, though if I try to run Oblivion from bash or the SKSE launcher, it CTD, because it considers the ini file is corrupt.

Loading Oblivion_Default.ini into notepad displays correctly and when I make a copy and rename it to Oblivion.ini, it launches. So what is Wrye Bash doing to oblivion.ini and is there a fix? I tried to upload a zipped copy of both ini files but the forum wouldn't let me. I presume I'm not the only one having this problem the cbash version, so I was wondering if there is a version of Wrye Bash that doesn't do this.

I'm using Windows 8.1, BTW, if that should be of any help with the problem.

I haven't used 0.6.0 but I've used three different versions and they all did that,I don't think you can avoid it. I found a trick though,if you're using Darnified UI,reinstall it and it'll fix the .ini file (maybe this same trick works with other mods that alter the .ini but I haven't tried it).

The version of bash is actually 305 standalone. Cbash version is 0.6.0.

If it's something the author is aware of, maybe it'll get fixed sometime. I have a copy of a modified ini that's in my Oblivion folder so every time I run Wrye Bash, I click on replaceini.bat to recover it. Only takes a second and much faster than a mod reinstallation.

replaceini.bat

DEL Oblivion.ini

copy oblivion_stepped.ini Oblivion.ini

Glad you cleared that up,0.6.0. seemed so weird to me. :D I've used so far 295.5 ,303 and 304 (I'm not sure about 305).

The author knows about this, the question is when it'll be fixed. Since it supports more than one games it has more bugs to iron out.

You made the .bat yourself, right? Does everything work fine by replacing the .ini like that? I can't remember well but I think I've tried it manually and something was getting messed up. Oh well.

Yes, the bat file works ok. Oblivion restarts perfectly every time I rerun it. If only BASH understood Mod Organizer's VFS, it could actually use an ini file from the right profile. I'm trying to set up a modded game with Mod Organizer but I need Bash for a few things, like the batched patch.esp. Even when I run bash from mod organizer, it works on the prime Oblivion folder instead of the Mod Organizer folder.

Maybe I'll try to set up a basic Oblivion setup with the few essential omods I want and then use Mod Organizer to handle the rest.

I see. I was thinking about using Mod Organizer myself but I wasn't too sure about it so I went for Wrye's profile function (that's how I got my .ini messed up).

There is an alternative but it's a bit different, check out Multiple Oblivion Manager (if you haven't already that is). My only complaint is that sometimes I can't swap images but I think it's a vista problem.
