ShrooMooo
Okay......this is strange. So I tried to load up my save (that I just played 5 hours ago) and got infinite screen (even with safety load). Opened the save in Save Tool, and noticed that ALL scripts had been removed! Autosave before it was perfectly normal. (about 400 scripts). I have many mods, but what the f**k causes this ?! Any help is greatly appreciated! camaro_69_327
"""I have many mods, but what the f**k causes this ?!"""" Autosave<<<<that. Many people will argue on both sides of the fence....I never use any auto saves in any Bethesda games. (knock on wood) In 20 years, (OMG has it been that long), I have not had a save go bad. The first Game ..."Arena" was released in 1994 (OMG) and i have 1000's of hours IN Beth games. SO far in Skyrim i have over 700 hours. probably 4 times that in Oblivion. Hell i probably had 1000 in Daggerfall alone...hahah
ShrooMooo
Ah! So disable the autosave, and everyone live happily for never after? Thanks, for the easy fix. And I was BORN in '94. Jesus, has it been that long????
camaro_69_327
shup..i know i am old..lmao. No idea if that will fix it ..just pointing out the Auto saves have been know to cause corrupt saves.
ShrooMooo
Well, I haven't had the issue since, so thanks! And it doesn't matter. Your a hardcore gamer! (I'm more of an OCD, addictive, omg I love anything TES) type of gamer.
cdcooley
I'm on the other side of that fence. I'm convinced its the saves made after a reload (after death or just because you wanted to replay something) that cause the problem whether they are automatic or manual doesn't make a difference. I have always used the autosaves in Bethesda games and the only times I've ever had any game corruption was related to loading a savegame file after having already played. In Oblivion I managed to load a save game with a different character than the one I had just been playing and Vilja was still following me even though that second character hadn't even met her yet. If you reload a save while playing there are plenty of things that don't get reset properly and the next time you save (autosave or manual) that jumbled mass of settings from the two early saves get combined into one big corrupted mess. I still don't know how that would have erased all of your script data except that the game got so corrupted that the save is incomplete.
camaro_69_327
^^^ see both sides of the fence....I also agree about continuing after death, its the reason i use a Mod the stops the Automatic reload, you CAN do the reload after death, but you have to make sure you have gone thru at least ONE load door...lol IF i have played more then an Hour an died,,i exit the game...
