Inconsistent CTD in solitude

This is something new for me. For some reason, entering Solitude from the main gate CTDs on the loading screen. Entering from the base or fast traveling to the Blue Palace is fine, but if I go closer to the main gate it crashes. It still CTDs on a new character.

So, I decide it must be something about that area in particular and decide to go around the world looking for any other spots with the same problem. After going all around the world with no crashes, I go back to Solitude. Except it doesn't crash this time. Everything is perfectly fine, a dragon attacks, I kill it and make a separate save on the spot before continuing my playing, just to be sure. That was yesterday.

Today, once again going inside Solitude is a crash. Loading the save inside Solitude is an instant CTD, every other save is fine. What kind of problem is this?

If my load order or anything else is needed just ask as I'm currently not at home to post it.

try using the information in the guide I am going to post below concerning Wrye Bash and in particular the check mark colors

 

try this mini guide I have developed over time, works for a LOT of people and it's really easy :smile:

 

1) You need to run LOOT, Wrye Bash and TES5Edit, in that order

 

Loot is not 100% and if that is all you're using you're going to have many problems as you progress through your play through

 

1.5 ) with many mods loaded, you should be using 2 other programs ( Wrye Bash and TES5Edit ), when you run Wrye Bash if any checkmarks are not green, those mods are causing problems in your game, you make them turn green by dragging them up or down in your load order in wrye bash till they do turn green, ok that's one problem

 

2) with many mods loaded into your game you HAVE to have either a merged patch or bashed patch file, once again Wrye Bash is your friend because it will automatically make you a bashed patch file when it loads your mods. A bashed patch file makes all your weapon and armor and other mods play nice together, it also keeps track of leveled lists in the game and makes them work better together also. One other thing, make sure you enable ( check mark ) the bashed patch Wrye Bash makes, then right click it and choose rebuild patch as the one Wrye Bash makes is empty, which should always be last in your load order unless you're using an ENB or the Reproccer. DO NOT USE A MERGED PATCH AND A BASHED PATCH AT THE SAME TIME, ONE OR THE OTHER.

 

3) TES5EDIT is used to do 2 things,

 

(A) verify that your load order is not missing any files that your mods need and

 

(B) verify that no primary files are being loaded after secondary files. When you run TES5EDIT it will throw up an error box and the error will be displayed at the bottom of the right pane / panel. All you have to do is read what it says and it will tell you exactly how to fix the problem in Wrye Bash. Yes, you can open Wrye Bash while TES5EDIT is open so you don't even have to write down what the error is :smile:

 

Please remember that while LOOT is a great program it is NOT 100 %

 

- concerning what the red, orange, and green check marks mean

Red means a missing master file - basically a guaranteed CTD on startup. Orange means that some ESP has requested its master files in an order that is different to the the order that you currently have them in. Orange mods are arguably more dangerous, because you won't necessarily get an immediate CTD every time, so you may be lulled into a false sense of security, whereas in reality you have an unstable load order.

Clicking on the orange/red mods will show you what masters they have, and what order they want them in. From here on in, it becomes like a puzzle: you need to manually drag and drop the various masters in your load order until their order is harmonious ( IE:. you've managed to provide the desired order of master files for every single ESP in your list simultaneously ) and all of your oranges have disappeared. If it's not possible to eliminate all orange mods, you may need to ditch one or two mods/patches.

Apparently, after fast traveling to the Blue Palace, If i hang around for a while before going to the entrance there's no crash.

My load order is mostly green and TES5Edit showed no problems.

mostly green is not good, EVERY mod has to be green or you WILL experience crashes and other problems, please follow the wrye bash instructions in my mini guide and it SHOULD fix your problems :smile:

 

also:

 

1) i see you are using SKYre, but it is spread out, that's not good, your load order when using SKYre should like like I have it below, reason being is this: Since SKYre is an overhaul mod, you want ALL of the SKYre files at the bottom so that it CAN overhaul everything else

 

2) ASIS and the Reproccer should ALWAYS be below your Bashed patch, and any ENB's installed - NO EXCEPTIONS

Every single mod with an orange check mark either has the mods in an order a different mod doesn't accept, or has all the mods in the right order but it's orange anyway, missing a number.

try arranging the orange mods according to what Wrye Bash says in the bottom right box, ignore the bashed patch and the Reproccer.esp untill you are done rearranging mods, then remake both of the patches and they SHOULD turn green.

 

Anytime you move even one SINGLE mod in your load order it is going to cause both the Bashed patch and the Reproccer.esp to turn orange, a lot of people confuse this issue and don't realize that once you get the other mods to turn green it is just a simple matter of remaking the bashed patch and re-running the Reproccer Jar :smile:

Ok, bashed patch, reproccer, DSRpatch, ASIS, all these will be fixed by rebuilding, so this leaves me with...

 

 

 

both Thunderchild .esps

Wintermyst SkyRe patch

These three ask for dragonborn before dawnguard, and the overwhelming majority of mods need dawnguard before dragonborn.

 

 

PreReproccer UU aMidianSS IA Patch

qotsafans miscellaneous reproccer + IA patch

These ask for USKP after Dragonborn, but the other unofficial patches don't accept this(among others)

 

These errors are literally in the very beginning of the load order. There's just no way for me to make any changes to get everything green here.

 

I actually don't even think it's related to this because I walked around a lot. It doesn't crash anywhere else. Only Solitude. If the problem was with the LO, I'd crash in a lot of other places.

are you using SPERG? Several people are reporting that it doesn't or won't work with SKYRE. If not you may have to add those orange mods to the black list for the reproccer so that they won't be included in the reproccer.esp, then you can maybe arrange them better and maybe get them to turn green?

 

I just helped someone fix their load order and we found out his was broken because of SPERG, that is why I mentioned it.

That IS correct..the Order of the Official Patches Plugins**should always be the order they were released ...

 

Dawnguard

HearthFires

Dragonborn

 

So any mod that wants them is a different order is wrong, the Author of the mod should be told. The proper fix is to open TES5Edit, Select only the mod in question. Once xxedit is done loading, right click that mod and select "Sort Masters" it will look like nothing happened, no notification nothing, just close and Tes5Edit will ask you to save, because it really did do something, save and the masters will be in the correct order for your load order.

 

Many mods have this problem.

 

Edit: said **patches at first above...that is the order of the DLC's, Each Patch should follow it respective DLC"...so any mod that wants any order but this needs to be sorted.
