Russia2012
I am trying to add guard to a dungeon I am creating. I am trying to determine the best way to set up their paths. If I want them to travel from five different rooms should I simply place markers in an area in each room than connect it to a marker in the room I want them to travel to next or do I need to also place them through corridors. I am guessing that the npc will take the most direct path possible to the target location. If there are walls and corridors they will use the corridors to reach their destination as soon as possible even if the path is not set into the corridor. I am guessing for each important destination they are traveling to should be where the marker should be. If they are simply passing through corridors I am guessing that ideal markers are not necessary.
icecreamassassin
They will take the most direct navmeshed path from marker A to marker B, you can help it by assigning preferred path on the navmesh, otherwise when rounding the corners they may cut them pretty sharp hugging the wall through the turn at times. If you have interactive objects like Furnature or workstations you can also link them as a patrol stop so they do stuff and just set the patrol package to spend X time at each stop so they'll use the object for a few seconds or whatever before moving on
icecreamassassin
If you do have a delay for each stop you could add patrol stops in the corridors too like at intersections so they'll stop and wait there for a time as they progress along the route
