ArmyOfPoint5
Hey all, I've gotten back into modding Skyrim again, which I'm, fairly confident in. Turns out though, after some modding, I'm getting CTDs, missing textures, and FPS drops. The only instance I've had frame drops in is inside houses/shops. CTDs are obviously just random, as with missing textures. These seem to be mostly for my weapons and armors, less frequently for the world itself. The CTDs usually happen around 5 minutes in, and never in the title menu, simply in-game. The missing textures start out small and get more and more frequent as time progresses, usually resulting in a CTD. I truly don't have many mods installed, and am quite appalled at how people can run near 255 mods without crashing. Just to double-check, I installed and ran TESVedit, and found no load/compatibility issues. Anyway, thanks in advance for any help, I've attached my dxdiag and load order. camaro_69_327
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit Memory: 16384MB RAM<<<wastedAvailable OS Memory: 3036MB RAM <<<<the reason you are having problems. The above says it all (from your DX report), you have 16 GB of RAM... BUT a 32 bit Operating System, and as you can see , you ONLY have access to 3 GB of RAM. Install a X64 Bit Operating System to actually USE the RAM you installed. :) Edited October 24, 2014 by camaro_69_327
ArmyOfPoint5
I figured this was the issue, but I've been putting off getting Windows 8.1 64 bit... So there's no short term fixes until I can purchase my copy? Also, in your opinion, is my graphics card outdated for Skyrim? camaro_69_327
you have a 650ti , and 2 GB VRAM so no not out dated...dated yes...lol...but i am still playing on 580's in SLI so behind even that...lol You just need to have an OS (X64) that will use the 16 GB of system ram. I thought the install routine for WIN 7 let you pick 32 or 64 bit?....or was it that Microsoft would send you a x64 DVD if you turned in your 32 bit key? Personally I am Skipping WIN 8 , 8.1 and now it looks like i will be Skipping 10.
