They've already shown Dragon Age 2 gameplay.

Was that for PC, or console? And how do we know?

Yeah, BioWare have already said they were deliberately tweaking combat-on-consoles to be more "realistic", whatever that means in a fantasy game context.

(Excerpt from: http://dragonage.bioware.com/da2/ )

" •Think like a general and fight like a Spartan with dynamic new combat mechanics that put you right in the heart of battle whether you are a mage, rogue, or warrior. "

From the Game Informer podcast you can hear at: http://gameinformer....agon-age-2.aspx , my impression is that most of that change is console-only. Which is fine by me! Have an XBox in the house, but don't play DA on it. Too limiting. :P

ME is FPS, nothing more and nothing less.

DAO is a Real-Time with Pause version of Turn Based combat.

If DA 2 changes to be closer to FPS gameplay they will have totally lost the plot of what their gaming audience wants from the game.

1. Mass Effect isn't an FPS. It's a TPS.

2. Dragon Age has no turn based combat.

3.How would Dragon Age 2 be anywhere close to First-Person Shooter gameplay? You need to think out your posts a bit more.

DA2 could become an FPS if they take the same route as Oblivion. Oblivion is an FPS with RPG elements. Some may disagree, but it is just like other FPS games along the lines of Jedi Academy, Elite Force 2, and Unreal 2.

I prefer the term FirstPersonSworder.... :whistling:

One of the things that got me hooked on ME2 was/is the combat system; it is intense, great and rewarding...also very tactical. I think something similar would make DA2 truly awesome as long as they retain story elements...

I seriously hope that Bioware are only implimenting a hacknslash-esq combat system to the consoles. I for one love the current combat system on the PC, it has a great feel and is a large part of what makes Dragon Age a great game. If we PC players really wanted a hacknslash type combat system, all we could have to do is use a mod with zero cooldown time on skills.

The only thing that would make Dragon Age's combat system even better would be to use the Euphoria physics engine. For those who aren't firmillure with it, it's the physics engine used in GTA IV. This engine would give a great feel to the game with every moment of contact. Imagine swinging your warhammer at Darkspawn as they flail and stumble across the screen in real time, with no pre-scripted animations.

It's not a hack and slash combat system. It's just faster and more responsive. I hope it's on the PC too.

BioWare have more or less clarified that the combat system will remain mostly the same as Origins on the PC, just more responsive.

Hey, know what would be really cool, if Captain Shepherd crash-landed in Ferelden. He would then come upon Morrigan and Leliana taking a bath and...
I just hope that the combat isn't dumbed down to make it more fast-paced.

Personally, I don't like having to keep both hands constantly "at the ready", much less "engaged in what's going on" in order to play the game. (Maybe because I want a hand free for the beverage of my choice while gaming.

"beverage" isn't a euphemism for something else is it?
