demarest
Please let me start by apologizing for the complexity of my issue. Then let me clarify that while I do own the Legendary Edition of Skyrim, my installed version is downloaded for the purpose of avoiding DRM. Onto the setup... 1) My Skyrim was installed to C:\ to avoid Windows protection of the Program Files (x86) folder for modding purposes. 2) I use SKSE as a wrapper for scripting/modding support. 3) SkyrimLauncher, TESV, and SKSE_loader are all set to run as administrator (Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit). 4) When I'm done fiddling with my install (various mods mostly installed via Nexus Mod Manager), I copy the entire Skyrim folder into a RAMdisk to reduce load times (15,000 MB RAMdisk of 32 GB physical RAM). 5) I've setup a task in Task Scheduler (TS) for the purpose of bypassing the UAC prompt when I launch SKSE_loader as administrator and created a shortcut to that task (run with highest privileges checked). The problem: When I activate this task (from TS or the shortcut), I receive a message in Skyrim while trying to Continue/Load saying "This save relies on content that is no longer present. Some objects may no longer be available. Continue Loading?" When I say yes, the game closes. Relevant info: One of the mods I use is called Kace's Auto Loot 2. This mod actually puts an item not in the game into your inventory. Prior to tinkering with TS, the only time I've seen that message before is when I loaded a save that was created while that mod was active, but loaded while that mod was not active. Even then, clicking on yes, the game loaded fine and played without any issues. Since then, I have tried running TESV and SKSE_loader, both from my SSD and my RAMdisk, all with and without running as administrator. Each of THESE attempts to run the game do not give me that message. Nor would I expect them to since no mods are being disabled. I also tried creating another task pointing to SKSE_loader on the SSD and it behaved the same as the other task. In closing, this is not that big of a deal. My end goal is to bypass the UAC prompt for this one program. It's been fun learning about how to use TS to do this, so I wouldn't mind solving this puzzle just for information's sake. I thank you for your time. Extra info: I just wanted to point out that throughout my time these past several weeks of playing and modding Skyrim (including from RAMdisk), only once did I have any problems in doing so. I use the Glowing Items mod (first version) and when I installed it with everything checked in color blind mode, I would experience random crashes to desktop (CTD). Since then, I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it with only color blind arrows checked. In this configuration, I've not experienced a single CTD, conflict, or anomaly of any kind.
