ZipGenius 6 works pretty well, I also have the all in one basement7z which the process went without a hitch.
The Free version of winrar is not a 30 day trial one is it?

Download winrar

Er, quite what the point of this post is I don't know. That's one of the things that this thread advises you to do, yes. Please don't post pointless one liners, as it's against the rules. Thanks.

Unfortunatly I too am having problems with .7z files. Which i don't understand because I have both WinRAR, and 7-Zip, both updated to current. I had to find an off-site place to get rens hair by itself, because i can't extract the full install. Thinking about resetting my file associations for WinRAR and removing all other Compression Archivers (7-zip, winzip, powerarchiver, etc.) And yes WinRAR is free, but you can keep WinZIP for pretty much ever anyway, i had it for 1.5 years 500+ days according to program, with no problems. Then I discovered WinRAR, which is very much more versitile in my opinion. LOL look at this I'm here rambling on about a pretty much pointless topic. Gonna go now before I get myself in trouble.

I like 7-zip. It works nicely, and I have never encountered any problems with it. That may change in the future.

Personally, I prefer IZArc It supports 7-ZIP, A, ACE, ARC, ARJ, B64, BH, BIN, BZ2, BZA, C2D, CAB, CDI, CPIO, DEB, ENC, GCA, GZ, GZA, HA, IMG, ISO, JAR, LHA, LIB, LZH, MDF, MBF, MIM, NRG, PAK, PDI, PK3, RAR, RPM, TAR, TAZ, TBZ, TGZ, TZ, UUE, WAR, XXE, YZ1, Z, ZIP, and ZOO. Which is quite a lot. And, best of all, its free! :)

Have a look here.

EDIT: I have just discovered that it can open CD image files like ISO, BIN, CDI and NRG. It is also possible to convert such files from one type to another (BIN to ISO, NRG to ISO).

I feel needs to be said.

I have several friends who have told me I should check out the "Kumiko Manor" mod for Oblivion. Just a few minutes ago, I started to download it - and hit a snag. The download is a .7zip file.

This has consistently been a problem for me. Not just for mods, but any type of file transfer. I have never been able to unpack a .7zip file. Supposedly my WinRAR file program will unpack them, but every time I've tried, it looks at me like I've just intruduced it to a self-destruct virus. I also have WinZip, but it won't unpack either .RAR or .7zip files.

So, for all you modders who think .7zip files are the greatest thing since sliced bread, please keep in mind that if you don't make a .RAR or .zip file also available - you are keeping part of your audience from being able to access your genius. And I'm not being sarcastic, either. I fully believe some modders (most?) are geniuses - I've tried to write a few mods, and it is not easy. My hat is off to all of you who write mods. I'd just like to express my appreciation in the highest form of all - using your products!

But, I can't do that if you are going to insist on packing them with .7zip. Now, I do understand that .7zip generates the smallest files, making your uploads easier and faster. But, is the speed of your upload so valuable that it justifies cutting yourself off from potential fans?

Thank you for letting me rant, and hopefully give you something to think about.
