Oakflesh
Casting time: instant
Magicka cost: 40
Magnitude: +40 armor
Duration: 180 seconds

Oakflesh is a spell for beginners. It gives a weak, but long-lasting (and consequently low-maintenance) armor boost. It doesn’t require too much thought or preparation, and should last the full length of any hostile encounter. Oakflesh’s secondary ability could be changed to a regeneration boost to capitalize on its length, but that’s a nitpick.

Stoneflesh
Casting time: instant
Magicka cost: 45
Magnitude: +120 armor
Duration: 20 seconds (15 seconds?)

Stoneflesh is a spell for pure power. This is a spell to use when you suddenly find yourself in the middle of 3 two-hander bandits. It charges up super fast and doesn’t cost much magicka, but if you want to sustain this throughout a battle, it will be a massive drain on your reserves.

Ironflesh
Casting time: 2 seconds (1.5 seconds?)
Magicka cost: 65
Magnitude: +80 armor
Duration: 60 seconds

Ironflesh tries to find a happy middle between the two above, but sacrifices casting speed and magicka cost for it. It can still be used mid-battle, but requires better timing and magicka management. I’m not entirely happy with this spell, but I’m not sure what else to do with it.

Ebonyflesh
Casting time: 5 seconds
Magicka cost: 100
Magnitude: +100 armor
Duration: 120 seconds

Large cost and a very long casting time make Ebonyflesh unsuited for mid-battle use. But it gives excellent armor and has a lengthy duration – perfect for a preparatory spell. Use it when you know you’ll be facing some tough enemies soon for an early advantage.

Dragonflesh
Casting time: 1 second
Magicka cost: 75
Magnitude: +80 armor, +20% magic resistance (can it scale with alteration skill and perks?)
Duration: 45 seconds

Dragonflesh is basically Ironflesh + magic resistance but for a shorter duration. Good strength, decent casting time, and not-suck duration make it a general-purpose armor spell. Even though it costs less than Ebonyflesh, it would be harder to maintain throughout a battle. It’s also the only mage armor that protects against magic.

you could use http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49791/?
it comes with the option to make circlets out of helmets so you will be able to wear hoods while you get the bonus from wearing a helmet.

3 suggestions:
1. I really think starting with a perk point should be added I mean your character is anywhere from 25 - 60 years old and hasn't learned a spell or a little bit with a sword? plus then I don't have to use a sword on my mage pre lvl 2 and level up handling a sword to learn to cast fire.

2. raise the mana regen in battle from .33 to like .44? early for a mage is extremely hard (especially with enhanced AI's and level scaling mods) I find myself just winning fights in cheesy ways like playing duck duck full mana bar with my enemies.

3. put a weight on arrows? maybe even just match gold weight? or a quiver limit it's unrealistic carrying 126 arrows of 9 kinds around

Love the mod btw can't wait for updates and such :)
