I have actually completed this mission so I could help you here luckily.

First off, check your paper map for a BIG clue that some people probably rarely notice. Look toward the Northwest corner of Solstheim - scan it and you'll see just south of the Moesring Mountains and west of the Altar of Thrond what appears to be a ship stuck in the snow.

THAT'S the airship.

So refer to that inconspicuous mark on the paper map - suffice to say the ship should be laying, wrekked, at the foot of the Moesring Mountains. Further north, maybe northeast, is the cavern you're also supposed to visit too as the second part of this mission.

though your probably there already, it might help to lighten your load a bit cuz theres 4 or 5 different dwemer/dwarven (always get them mixed up) armor and weapons.. they weigh between about 15-32 or so each dont correct me please its off my head, and though most people would have money and plenty of it, it can help keep your purse heavy. its in the crates next to the captain and be sure to take the captains log and return it witrh the amulet to the mage guild guy. oh look not such a long post.. this time
