I found "A Rusty Key" in the Leyawiin Mages Guild. Anyone know what it opens?

I found that key too. never found anything it opened maybe its just for show bcause thats the only thing i could find it was any good for.

Reminds me of how fireforge1234 had a key collection in morrowind

The rusty key is probably an easter egg in the bethesda tradition...

I also remember finding a Rusty Key, but it wasn't in Leyawiin. Can't recall finding any use for it either, maybe there's loads of useless keys scattered all around Cyrodiil? :P

I suspect it has something to (or was supposed to) do with Kalthar, since the room you find it in is very necromantic in decor.

If you're in the Leyawiin Guild Hall, I have to imagine you're familiar with the Leyawiin recommendation quest. It's of keen interest to me just where Dagail's original Seer's Stone was hidden away.

Yah, I looked for a cache in the Fort, but didn't find any secrets there. Perhaps Kalthar has some affiliations we find out about later...?

Yeah, but you have to figure out the key's formid is, then look at all the doors in the render window. I don't think you'll want to.

Alright, after some looking around, it appears to be connected with the Alyeid Ruin of Nornal (some ways east of memorial cave, SE of imperial city. I don't know what the connection is, but hey, any excuse to go running through a ruin is a good excuse. Just remember, the nice thing about a mystery is in trying to figure it out for yourself.

I headed to Nornal, and incidentally found ANOTHER 'Rusty Key' in a chest inside.



The key (not sure which one, or if they're dupes of eachother) did indeed open a gate inside Nornal, that was underwater... the gate didn't lead to anything, though, just a short passage with nothing in it. Or did I miss something? I was kind of hoping it was the second Varla cage remover.

Cryo: one key is on the second floor of the guild in the room with all the bonemeal in it, the other key is inside Nornal. Both are found all by their lonesomes in chests.
