I've gone into several barrows, but I still haven't figured out what "tools" I need to get at 'em. I assume it's something obvious and schtoopid, so just a nudge should do- do I talk to someone, get an item somewhere? I've got all the common tools available from the main island, but that doesn't seem to be what Bloodmoon's looking for...

DO the East Empire company quests... Also do a forum search on this before posting( thinks its just a few threads down)

Thanks for the response- I do check before I post, especially with a forum that has as few threads as this one. The only thread I see here deals with WHAT you get from them, not HOW to get it.

u have 2 do a quest for the east empire mining company and u'll get a special nordic pickaxe. u can then use it on the ice covered skeletons u find in the caves in solsthiem to get pieces of stalhrim

uh yeah.. i started a new character and he's at level 6 now and im having a har time with bears and ricklings. the nords and wolves go down okay especially with my last wish or whatever short blade.. its an enchanted dwarven short sword that does poison i believe, i also got a steel flameskewer and a wait this isnt about weapons.. anyhew i found for yall short blade guys especially if you are lower level, if you manage to kill a rickling in solstheim, his shield is good for light armor which i dont do, but the short blade is maxed at 24 damage and the most i got some from vanderfel to do was 14.. tho i didnt venture past the west gash area.. i do a lot of quests. anyways my question is what is stahlrim? i assume its an ore or soemthing like ebony and glass or adamantium.. which i hope to stock up on in mournhold. but i want to know [SIZE=7]what's the armor class, or weapons, and who can make use of the stahlrim[SIZE=7] im going to be in solstheim awhile till i get the raven rock quests into a bit, but help me out i know its a long post.. expect them from me.

Sacred ice used buy the Skall (think it was the skall) as a casket. They put them the dead then in a tomb and that is where you find the Stalrhim... the only way to break the ice is to use a speical pick-axe that you get on the EEC mainquest...
