Hi all,

I have a question which hopefully someone can help me with:
Well, recently I had some hard drive problems during which I lost a part of my private data, including some mods. Now I planned to redownload them but cause of my slow connection and since I'm busy during the day, I thought about using Jdownloader to download the mods during the night. So I wanted to ask if it's:

a) possible to use jdownloader with this site and if yes, how can I do it ?
and
b) is it ok to use download managers, or would it cause things like server problems for other users when my pc downloads stuff the whole night ?

Would be really nice if someone could tell me

Most download managers don't work if you're not a premium member as most essentials to let them function are disabled otherwise, that's a first. Then it's possible yours might not work, DownloadThemAll and a few others are confirmed that they work but I'm not sure about Jdownloader.

Most download accelerators are not allowed without a premium membership due to how they try downloading the file in several threads. Sometimes, you can get them to still work by disabling the multi-thread capability. While this does essentially mean that the file is downloaded at the same speeds as before, you can still make use of other features, like downloading in multiple sessions, that make these programs somewhat worthwhile.

First, subscribe. Then, I recommend using DownThemAll if you have Firefox. I've never had an issue with DTA. I don't know about JDownloader or similar, but I know DTA definitely works.

I didn't want to use JDownloader to accelerate the download, but I want to use it so it downloads the mods automatically without me doing anything. As I said it would be great if it could download the files during the night cause I haven't the time to look and start every single download during the day. I just don't know if it is possible to do that with the nexus sites

It's not about your intentions, it's about the software simply not working on normal servers.

Kind of dredging this thread up, but I had a question about using DownThemAll. Is there a recommended level of segments/chunks per file we can download at a single time? I believe you can set DTA to download a max of 10 file segments at a time, but many sites consider it bad form to go that high because it can unduly stress the server. Do the mods want us not to go over a certain level of segments per file, or can I set it to the max?

If you're a premium member then you can download as many segments at a time as you like on the two premium servers. Probably best not to be too silly; but 10 will be fine!
