While the concept of a mobile website for the actual Nexus file share does not make much sense since you have to install the mods on your computer, the concept of a mobile version of the forums and, perhaps image share and the articles section, makes a lot of sense to me.

I'm a web developer for my company and we've been looking into mobile development, and that started me thinking about how one of my favorite sites would work as a mobile site (that and.. I got a BlackBerry a few days ago ).

The forums, visually at least, are grouped by categories, which I think would be really easily adapted to a mobile UI.

There is the excellent free JQuery plugin for mobile development for supporting touch capabilities: JQTouch
There's also an excellent free IPhone emulator (for Windows) which is much more practical for testing: MobiOne

I know this would be a large undertaking, but I think it would a really neat feature of the site.

There is? What does it look like? Is the URL something else that www.thenexusforums.com?

When I come to the site it displays the same as when I go to it on my computer...

I mean something more like this: http://player.vimeo....74?color=c9ff23

If your mobile supports it, get Opera Mobile. It's the best phone browser I've seen yet . (For touchscreen phones, get the 10th version! instead of the regular ( which is 5, mini))
Oh and did I mention the chat works too :D.

(android version of opera is being build at the moment, they say it'll take a month.)

Ah, I see. Yes, I can do that too.

But I'm talking about something optimized for mobiles, where you don't have to zoom or scroll, at least not very much.

I've used the site from my phone before, but it's not the easiest thing to get around in when you're not on a computer.

For instance, I can login but the little popup box the login control is in doesn't always render in a place I can easily get at it. That's a feature that's really cool on a computer, but just doesn't work well on a mobile.

There's some huge differences in UI design for a mobile and UI design for a standard website.

Also, sorry about your IPhone. :(
