Having lost the Sorrows of Arlathan bow to the Silverite Mine bug, I tried this to get it back, but it didn't find it :-(
(Would also lie to say it isn't clear to me what one download has over the others, and which is the best to choose. I just went fort the one at the top of the list.)

As far as i can recall GETX has always left a vase behind. It's untidy but if one creates it away from where one is likely to want to go later, it's just a visual mess not a big issue.

someone explain to me how to use this
I write ''RUNSCRIPT GET'' and all I get is a container with 0 items in it

how difficult would it be to add items to vendors(merchants) inventory instead of player inventory?

Dear friends, I am the author of this mod, and I deeply regret that so many people have problems with GETX command, please try to use a filter when you type in the command (like getx armor) to reduce de number of items that loads into that jar. At the time I was writing this code (2010), I had less than 100 custom items in my game, but it seems that lot of you my have several thousands of them, and that might test the scripting system limits. Unfortunately I will not have the time to retest or modify the code, so don't expect an update. And don't forget you have to run the item scanner before using those commands. Cheers.

Hi, I found a solution to the problem that people are having (or at least the specific problem that the game freezes for a moment and a jar appears that you can't open.)
1. Open itlst_user.gda in gdapp
2. Check the [Del deletes row] option
3. Delete all the rows with items that start with phae (They are all one after the other)
4. (Optional) Delete all the rows with items that start with gen_im (these are not all together, so it takes more care but they are generally in groups)
Note that you can't just select multiple rows and delete them at the same time, so, just keep the button pressed, it might take a while though, I deleted around 10500 items (about 5 minutes is what it took me).
What this does is delete all the Winter Forge items (and the Improved Atmosphere items if you do the optional step) from the item list, so only the items from other mods appear. The Winter Forge items are mainly for itself and it gives them to you on it's own, so there is no need for them to be listed in this mod, and since The Improved Atmosphere items you can get through regular play then I also found them unnecessary.
Phae is the prefix for The Winter Forge and gen_im is the prefix for Improved atmosphere if you were wondering.
That fixed the problem for me, apparently The Winter Forge adds around 10000 (!) items, that the script tries to load along with all the others, that makes the game freeze for a moment, and as far as I can tell, the jar becomes unusable because it exceeds the limit of what a container can have (though this is just speculation on my part).
In any case, thank you for this mod it has been very useful!!
P.D.: How hard it would be to exclude certain folders from the item search program, or at least certain prefixes? I think that would probably solve the problem for almost everyone.
