Great mod mate! Recommend to all, if you have a bunch of mods installed and constantly have problems finding items this mod is a lifesaver. Endorsed and big thumbs up.
Cheers mate!

I was having this problem as well, until I tried the Steam user fix suggestion (I DO NOT HAVE STEAM)
Just go into your Dragon Age game folder (NOT the My Documents one) and create a new folder called addins. This will fix the problem and keep the scanner from crashing out.

This is a great mod, but I seem to have run into a bit of a problem. I recently installed Improved Atmosphere, but had not scanned for new items, and the mod worked perfectly, as it had before Improved Atmosphere was installed. I then scanned for more items, since IA added some. The Item Scanner finds 1837 BioWare items and 4000 user items. when I use the "runscript getx" command, it spawns a vase that, when I right-click on it to loot, just creates a minor lag and doesn't open up. When I use a filter, like "runscript getx robe", it spawns another vase, but this time I'm able to open it to find all the "robe" items. What gives?

Yes, the things are pretty clear. It seems like there is a huge amount of user items in that mod, and when trying to add all of them to the container the script system crashes. The vase its my temporary container for items and should be destroyed after you close the inventory. Unfortunatelly, in the event that the script crashes while adding items to it, then the vase never gets destroyed. When you actually input a filter, the number of items decreases and there is no problem. I bet there is a up limit for the number of items a container can hold that should not be solvable. Even so, I could limit the number of items added if I find what that limit is, and at least prevent the script from crashing. For the moment I'm out on a trip and can't work on fixes, but in two weeks time, I will post an update to the thing, also fixing other issues. Workaround for now: use filters, or move out of the game the folder containing that mod while scanning, then put it back. This way at least you'll get to see the items in the new mods you may want to install and you do not know their name to filter by.

Thanks for the advice. I took out the IA mod, rescanned the items (User items number dropped a lot) then put the IA mod back in. Works like a charm now, although I really do want some of the IA items. I'll be waiting with baited breath for the update...

Fantastic mod; an elegant and future-proof solution to adding items.
Two problems I've encountered personally, which others have mentioned:
1. Items from official DLC are not found.
2. A large amount of scanned custom items causes a vase to appear (even with a filtered search), which doesn't disappear even after looting everything it contains. I filtered a search down to one item being returned, using both scripts (with and without quantities), and the vase still appeared containing one lootable item. After looting it remained essentially as a static prop.
For the moment the workaround of scanning without the surplus items suffices, although it would be nice to have those problems fixed.
Again, excellent work :-)
This really could be "the mother of all AddItem mods."
