I'm pretty sure I installed it using OBMM. Thing is, I used Oblivion XP 4.1.5, the older one by Mr. what's-his-name before you took over, and it works fine. I saw you had an update, so I deactivated it and installed yours using OBMM. It still doesn't work.

I'll try it again, but... I'unno. I've tried quite a few times and no go.

At this point I would suggest reinstalling Dark Darn first. Then install Oblivion XP. When you double-click the omod, select Dark Darn from the menu. I've changed the ini file, so you need to go through the complete install, not just copy the plugin over. In fact, when you upgrade, you should back up your existing ini file (if you altered it in anyway), double-click on the omod for the old version so OBMM completely removes it, then go through the process of creating an omod for the new version and double-clicking on it to install the new version. Then you can transfer your changes from the old ini file to the new (don't just copy the old one over).

When you said activate and reactivate etc. I was afraid you were just copying the plugin over and trying to activate it with OBMM. That won't work. If you're still having trouble after this, please post your load order in the release thread on the Beth forums.

I'll restate exactly what I've done.

First Try
  • Downloaded new version of Oblivion XP (4.1.7a).
  • Made OMOD-file using Create > Archive.
  • Deactivated previous version of Oblivion XP (4.1.5) using OBMM.
  • Installed Oblivion XP 4.1.7a using OBMM.
  • Used BOSS to sort.
  • Tried to start a new game.
  • Error.

Second Try
  • Deactivated Oblivion XP 4.1.7a using OBMM.
  • Reactivated Oblivion XP 4.1.7a using OBMM.
  • Tried to start a new game.
  • Error.

Third Try
  • Deactivated Oblivion XP 4.1.7a.
  • Downloaded Oblivion XP 4.1.7 and installed using OBMM.
  • Tried to start a new game.
  • Error.

Fourth Try
  • Deactivated and deleted Oblivion XP 4.1.7.
  • Deactivated Dark UI'd Darnified UI and its Supplement Pack using OBMM.
  • Reinstalled Dark UI'd Darnified UI and Supplement Pack using OBMM.
  • Reinstalled Oblivion XP 4.1.7a using OBMM.
  • Sorted using BOSS.
  • Tried to start a new game.
  • Error.

I think I'll try removing 4.1.7a and retry 4.1.5. If it works, then.. Well, I dunno, really. xD Probably call it a bug and stick with it until we work something out. Also note that in all the above instances, I didn't modify the default .ini file. I figured might as well make sure it worked before I tinker around with it.

If you go with one of the newer versions, I'd go with 4.1.7a since that has all the latest fixes.

Still concerned when you say deactivated and reactivated - I presume you mean deactivate by double-clicking on the omod. If so, that should be fine.

The last thing is that you need to be running at least the final version of OBSE 18. Once again 4.1.7a has the proper check for that, but it sounds like you're not even getting that far. Though that might be what the problem is. 4.1.6 and onwards require a newer version of OBSE than what 4.1.5 needed. I put the link in to OBSE 19 - you might want to try that.

By 'deactivate', you're right. I basically double-clicked the name of the mod in OBMM. As for the version of OBSE I'm using, it's the latest one I could grab last week or so. I'll get the exact version in a sec.

It's 19.4. From 'obse.log' in my root install directory:

OBSE: initialize (version = 19.4 010201A0)

So there's something really funky going on. I'm working on something else at the moment so I haven't tried reverting to 4.1.5, but I'll report what happens when I get the time.

Right, I deactivated 4.1.7 (Via double clicking it in the OBMM GUI) and activated 4.1.5. Started a new game without any problems. Apparently, there's really something funky going on with 4.1.7a.

...I have no idea what happened, but apparently reinstalling 4.1.5, deactivating it, then activating 4.1.7a made it work. o_O Looks like it's cleared SOMETHING up, although what that is I have NO idea. Strange. Thanks for your quick support and help, AndalayBay.

I hope I didn't leave something out of 4.1.7 or 4.1.7a! Although your's is the first report of trouble... I'll doublecheck anyway.

Glad you got it working.

Just in case my last post wasn't clear, I have a bad habit of leaving the post 'unposted' while I do what I said I'd be doing in the post. For all intents and purposes, the second paragraph is supposed to be an edit. As far as I can tell, 4.1.7a is working perfectly on my end now. I have no idea what I did to fix it though. ^^"

Well I just discovered something: one of the sound files was missing!! Have no idea why it wasn't included in the archive, but I will re-upload 4.1.7a shortly :) It might be missing from the previous versions too - not sure now. Also don't know why I haven't gotten other reports - maybe people are having crashes and are blaming it on other stuff.

Well, it doesn't seem like there's been too much harm done. Just to make sure, to install the updated one, all I have to do is deactivate the current one in OBMM and delete it, then activate the new one, right? xD
