The Blizzard of 2015!!

Deflate - Gate! (the super bowl)

The Measles? (in flux)

We are now over a month into 2015....A year that will live in infamy (if we tent to heed our media outlets) One that will surpass all others...at least till 2016.

I would love to hear what topics are being over-hyped in Europe also,

Anyway, no matter where you dwell, does it piss you off?

Nah. Too much work to get bent out of shape about how stupid the media has become. it's more about ratings than telling the REAL story any more. Look what happened to Tom Brokaw..... and then there are the idiots that bought into the made-up names for the pilots of the Air Asia plan that had a 'short' landing. I mean, seriously, "we tu low", Sum Ting Wong..... That didn't ring any alarm bells for any of the editors or proof readers???

They don't call it the "media circus" for nothing.......

What about Ebola? Seriously? It was a disease that was being considered the death of modern society, the herald of the end of days... For about 2 months. Granted, spending 2 months in the hype cycle is a mark of a serious issue. but begs the question as to what happened to change it to where people went from barricading themselves in their homes to going out to their respective Superbowl parties without the requisite hazmat suit.

All the more reason why Television is becoming a dying medium and that these continuous ratings grabs are only hurting the effectiveness of any actually important news from ever being trusted.

Does anyone really think the media is hyping all this stuff for their own purposes or are they steering the public's concentration away from something else?

Bit of both I should think. The government likes it when the media grabs a bone, and shakes it to death. All the while, they are drawing attention away from some of the stupidity our government perpetrates.

Also, the talking head attitude that the the head that is talking is as important as the story itself......Ego's tend to factor in. Just look at Brian Williams.

Roll over Cronkite.
