CTD on Game Startup

I've been troubleshooting this thing for weeks, I figure it's time to try to get some help. I'd appreciate any tips.

 

I'm using Live Another Life, and it CTDs every time I select the bed. The latest time I tried to start, it loaded a little bit, I got some messages, but the screen never came from black.

 

I'm using Mod Organizer.

Hate to be "that guy," but have you tried running LOOT and TES5Edit to see if you get any errors, or if the problem gets fixed?

Yes, I've done LOOT and TES5Edit. I assume you mean cleaning mods and making sure there aren't any errors when loading.

 

Any other suggestions for troubleshooting?

Are you saying that the game works as intended with the vanilla intro (no crashing, bugs, etc.), yet crashes with Live Another Life (LAL), or are you just now randomly beginning to experience problems with LAL?

 

If the latter, we'd start looking at mods that you have recently added, if any. If the former, obviously the easiest solution would be to use another alternate start mod, or simply use the vanilla intro to the game.

EDIT: New development-

Just to check, I disabled ALL my mods, other than the official DLC. It crashed when starting a new game. Probably should have tried that a long time ago.

I moved Wyrmstooth.esp above Falskaar.esm, no change

I just disabled LAL, and it CTD'd shortly after hitting "New Game".

I've been using LAL for a long time, and never had any issues. I really can't remember when I first started having issues. I know it was some time after PerMa came out (which I've currently disabled, if only to help with troubleshooting, along with ASIS. I don't feel like patching after every tweak.) I'm also not sure what my newest mods are. I completely deleted Skyrim the other day, and re downloaded every mod. And like a moron, I enabled them all at once. (I was hoping the problem was that something had gotten corrupted with my Skyrim install).

 

I'm going to disable all Conflicted mods, and see where that gets me. If it crashes again, I'll post my new mod order, maybe it'll make it easier to see where the problem is

I disabled all mods MO had in the "conflicted" category, and then re-enabled SkyUI and the USKPs. Still crashing after "New".

 

 

 

 

I doubt this would effect anything, but I have Enboost installed, and Skyrim is installed to a secondary hard drive, not my C:. As is MO

I'm not great at this sort of thing, but I will give my advice.

 

I'm not saying it is necessarily the same for you, but I am looking at a few mods on your load list that gave me frequent crashes. I'm just going to give personal experience, I can't do much more than that. The official high-res pack didn't work for me, it always caused a CTD. Falskaar worked, yet I seemed to notice more problems in general when it was active.

 

Unfortunately, the only help I can really give you is the advice that you do a clean uninstall of Skyrim, then follow this guide - http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9

I followed the S.T.E.P guide exactly, and after installing the mods S.T.E.P shows in the order it instructs, I began to add on mods that I personally came across. So far, I have not had any problems. Note that if you try this, even if you follow the guide to the letter, you cannot activate all the mods in one go and hope for it to work. For example, a few of the mods on the S.T.E.P page did not work for me no matter what I did, and caused a crash.

I'm doing a clean install, and I guess I'll go from there. I'll disable the official high rez mods, and probably Falskaar. I'll probably reenable it when I actually get around to playing it

Welp, looks like doing a clean install worked. My game's running great now, with all my mods. I left out ENBoost, but I enabled everything else
