Of course, it's because you're a dark elf. However, the redguards have a grudge against seemingly everyone except for the Imperials. They were always nice to me when I was an Imperial. It always threw me for a loop when I found a redguard attacking me in a cave. Somehow, that just seems wrong.

However, they do have affirmative action, equal opportunity bandit groups in Morrowind, so it shouldn't really surprise me that much.

Also, I am not surprised at the lack of responses for Bretons. Breton chicks are often quite attractive, and I wouldn't want to enslave them. Nord chicks: ugly. Imperial chicks: Not ugly but not great either.
