This geck SUCKS.

Geck crashed and took a huge ESP mod file I've been working on for over a week with it. The file vanished, and a full computer scan only found a shortcut to the file that no longer exists anywhere.

Havok sim doesn't work.

Geck has to be closed using task manager.

I'm not sure if it works right, or at all, but I did notice that there's an auto save feature in the FONV Geck. I found it under the File / Preferences../ Misc(tab) / there's a check box to enable the feature and a field to input a number of minutes to wait between auto saves... again I haven't used it so I don't KNOW if it works...:unsure:
I've seen many complaints about this very problem so hopefully it does...

It's a little bit better than the Morrowind CS at the moment, but I do hope they patch it soon.


oh man i recall it use to take me forever to get thing lined up, and when i thought it was i would go in game only to find that there where still gaps or overlays and had back out and rework and test again. it took my team 18 months to just create the location that i was working on (most the time was spent on me just making the cells and testing them...

But atleast when it was done it was almost like a small expansion as it add a full underworld to the full island (saidly the only person that i have keep in contact with and no-longer have the mod and the site it was on is lone gone) or i would up load it here

it sounds like this is the biggest version of the editor ever... but still will get it and use it thou and more in-likely badh my head on my keyboard a few 1000 time before i done making any thing i like

Another problem. Many interiors show up as completely screwed up in geck. Walls missing and the like, but in the game are completely normal.

Yeah its the geck, it needs a patch.
It's a pain in the ass.

Someone sent me a potential "temp fix"
But didn't do anything unfortuntely

GECK was apparently coded by a wannabe programmer with no UI experience and no concept of real testing. Between the inconsistencies of the interface, the perplexing lack of options, the horrifically unstable backend (obviously using some flavor of Gamebryo), and the utter lack of any real structure or organization in the object design, it's bizarre that anyone is able to create an entire game with these tools. I mean, the navmeshing interface alone is so ludicrously tedious and idiotically designed, I think it can be safely assumed that they don't understand how mind-bogglingly horrible it is, or they would have buried this tool in shame years ago.

That said, if you lose your work, you only have yourself to blame. I mean, that's rule #1 for anyone using a computer from Basic Computer Literacy 101. Always make backups.

Fallout wasn't built with the geck.
That would be impossible.
