xXRedxBombXx Posted March 31, 2015 Share Posted March 31, 2015 (edited) So I've been modding my Skyrim for several years now, and I noticed not one modder has made a good quality Shirasaya Katana, or atleast it hasnt been made at all. How come, I see these swords all the time. I see them in Japanese TV shows, movies, and anime. It's quite popular and would make sense to see it in Skyrim being though a lot of modders have made good quality Katana swords. So why is it that now one has made one? If your the first you could get a lot of downloads and endorsements being though its the only one, and no one has seen one made yet. What is a Shirasaya?- A Shirasaya is basically the same thing as a Katana the difference is the blade is stored into a wooden sheath and the handle and guard is replaced with a wooden handle without a guard. Sometimes the style of the Shirasaya would reflect the blades personality, whether the blade is bloodthirsty, etc. In fact this sword could even be made into a quest, and the sword is a reward at the end of it. I hope you modders out there would take this into consideration. I honestly don't have enough skill to make and publish mods, so please take this into consideration. BigBizkit Posted April 1, 2015 Share Posted April 1, 2015 I don't think modders hunt for endorsements and downloads but create what they feel like creating. Shouldn't be too hard though (for you, that is) to find a katana you like and retexture the guard and handle. Colour the guard transparent and retexture the handle with some wood texture. Best of luck, Thanks for the advice, I have taken a modeling class at my school, but my class got taken down before we could even learn to texture anything. I would love to make one my self, but I don't even know how to put it into the game. Anyways I do realize that's not something modders aim for, but like I said its just an idea. I think it would be great to see someone add itb into the game, but hey, I can't force anyone to make a mod. Unless I pay them of course. BigBizkit Posted April 2, 2015 Share Posted April 2, 2015 It's none of my business but: I find it disheartening that many people here request sth., and when someone shows up and tells them how it could be done they immediately give up without trying "Oh, I meant for someone to do it for me because I don't know anything". Guess what, noone was born knowing how to mod. I knew _nothing_ about neither retexturing nor modeling but within a few hours I learned enough (by using google) to do some reedits of armors and retexturing changing small things - which I wanted. The vast majority of requests here are either outright impossible things or such tiny and easy edits that it would have taken the requester less time to learn how to do it themselves, rather than waiting for the knight in shining armor to swoop in and serve them their little mod on a platter. There are many other reasons as to why I can't do it myself but that's technical problems and personal. So, there is no need to assume that everyone can do something so simple.
