Hey Forum,
I'm going to get an iPod touch 4th generation 32GB , and I wanted to know If I should jailbreak it. It will be on ios 4.2, and I know that there is a program called pinkra1n which will jailbreak ios 4.2 on any 'i' device (Iphone, Ipad or Ipod touch).

So why should I jailbreak, and what are the benefits...???

As far as I know, your 'Jailbreak' would be tethered, ie. you have to connect to your computer to boot your iPod Touch.

I think recently greenpoison 4.2.1 unteatherd was just realeased. Ima test when I get my Ipod....

i had the same, i mean the same, ipod 4G 32gb.
I used greenpoison and it worked perfectly. whenever i rebooted my ipod it stayed JBed, Cydia apps works perfectly too

Edit: Advantages to jailbreak
Sweet themes, apps, addons, plug ins, ect. Install apps without itunes. Say you got internet and itunes on another conputer but you synced it with yours meaning you cant sync it with another computer, you can grab the legal IPA you downloaded from itunes and use a software like iFunBox with the cydia app installous to install it, bypassing the need to sync with itunes

You see thats the one reason why i got a creative Zen xfi2, no need for preparatory software

IPODS suck.

Not to mention the best sounding MP3 player on the market.

Thor, we arent talking just about sound you know. We arer talking about Graphically enhanced apps for the i4g.. something your "thing" will never have i think

the itouch? no its not. its as much a audio player that it is a video player, and as much of both that it is a handheld console. Its a multimedia handheld console one might say. on the other hand, the small ipods ARE only mp3 but we are talking about the 4th Generation iTouch

Why not get a phone that does all that (Android/iPhone/Blackberry) instead of carrying around two devices?

Maybe because they cant afford to pay 400 quid more for the extra phone capacity+a camera with flash?
