Re-texture. Questions.

So for the mod I have planned I want to make a custom Deathclaw texture. I am using photoshop. The question I have is...how do I replace the color of say....the belly, turn it into a dark red, but keep the texture of the scales, then turn say the....face to dark grey. I have tried color replace tool and ended up with the result of it looking WAY too pale of a color, or the complete opposite color. I tried the adjustment/saturation tool, which...kinda worked, just not how I wanted the texture. I want specific colors in specific areas. Please note I have just started using photoshop, therefore I am not well versed in the use of it. Is there anyone willing to help explain how I would go about turning, (for example) the stomach of the Deathclaw a dark red, but keeping the texture, and the main body a dark grey while also keeping the texture? I have 2000 caps ready for a good explanation.

You would have to actually know what you're doing with Photoshop.

You could create several collar layers then use the layer mask method to blend those colors with minimal seams. You could repaint, by hand or with free resources the entire mesh, you could use the paint tool and a few extra layers to add color and blend edges. These things aren't too hard - if you know how to use Photoshop. You can still try to look up a few photoshop tutorials and try to use follow them but finding a tutorial that explains exactly what you need is unlikely and finding, studying and properly executing their techniques will probably take you quite some time.

Okay. Thank you for the advice. Just curious if you could do a...list of things that would involve. Just make it easier to find the exact tutorials I need.

Hey mate, I know it's an old topic but that's something a lot of people ask me so it might help other ppl.
I made some screenshots for it to be as clear as possible. It's the very basic though, most of the things you'll have to learn by yourself.
This is a Gecko texture by EWI.
