Yes, you did imagine it. And no, you can't leave the city.

You can get a pack rat or pack scrib, perhaps one other, but no guar...

Unfortunately you cannot get out the city. Also you can't buy pack guar.Only pack rat but i think that you can't go back to Vvardenfell with him. There is probably a mod where you can buy pack guar.

And has anyone noticed that the Pack Rat has a target on it? Every battle I've gotten into that I haven't told my Pack Rat to stay out of the enemy goes right for the Pack Rat and usually kills it in one hit. That seems a bit odd to me  . I was disapointed that I couldn't explore more of Morrowind or take your new animal back to Vvardenfell with you.

With regard to the mod for the Pack Guar.

I loaded it in the base MW version. I bought my Guar and headed out. He could only carry about as much as I could, so he was not particularly helpful. He could not travel on Siltstriders/boats/mage guild teleporters, so He made me travel all those lonely trails at a snails pace [he didn't run too well either and kept getting hung up on boulders or trees]. When we came to a rope bridge, he was too big to cross so we had to go downstream and find a ford. That also cost time.

Obviously, I got frustrated with my Guar. But they sell more expensive versions, so I went back and bought the luxury version. The advantages were that he could carry many many times more stuff. I did manage to load him to the limit once (A Guar loaded to the limit will not move!], but that took a lot of stuff. He is faster. He is cuter (well not really, but I didn't get mad at him as often so he seemed cuter). Unfortunately he still is not allowed on the transportation vehicles. He still gets hung up on stuff and needs to be coaxed around some obstacles.

After I got to about level 25, I began to adventure further and further away from Balmora (our home) and so I left my Guar housed in the Counsel Club [I took it over after killing off the thieves there].

So, if you want a Guar, you can have one. But, you may not find that he is the answer to all your wishes. Off course that reminds me of most of the things I buy in the real world, so that is not too surprising!

I always thought it was strange that they stuck the pack animals in Mournhold (where the only place you ever really go is the sewers). Vvardenfell, with its endless stretches of wasteland, is where a pack rat would really be valuable. Plus, it would give you someone to talk to besides yourself as you wander through the Ashlands.

This has brought a question up for me, it's about the pack guar but leans toward's a plugin's topic. If there is a plugin that has a way to teleport your guar where you go that would be cool, I wonder if that kind of mod can be made. I'm going to start a subject in Plugins about it.
