Alternative to the Alternative (GUI/UI?)

I found a UI someone made for Skyrim, but the idea came too early.

None of what I am requesting exists implemented in the way posted here. That is why I posted it in Mod Requests.

I've already looked into doing it myself, but It would seem impossible for a first mod. (Definately too hard...)

The current choices we have of UI are great. But after I saw this I really wanted it to be completed.

I've got pictures of how I want to see it to be done, but I don't expect the person to implement it exactly like that.

(I don't think anyone would if you were to pick it up.)

Brandon's Mockup

Selected item's are assumed to turn blue, then E, R, or F can be performed on multiple items all at once.

Equipped Icon's have an Icon in the bottom-right corner. Features could be removed depending on whether a controller is plugged in to accomidate for it's lack of buttons.

This is the original that the next version is based off of. The seperate part of the GUI's are all in a PSD, unfortunately I don't have photoshop.

It's avalible to use under the CC license.

LineaPhobia's Mockup [Modified]

Has a "proof of concept version", but does not work as it isn't implemented as a mod, and the author has dissapeared.

I ended up using this to incorporate some of the Vanilla menu's in these pictures below.

Same menu from Brandon's with Libia's style.

The magic menu could be implemented in a similar fashion.

Each individal perk is selectable by clicking on them. Players with a controller are still able to use it to navigate the menu.

(Missing constellations as I couldn't find any good pictures of them without a background. Text probally doesn't need to be formatted like that anymore. "# Perks Available" might work.)

Map is integrated inside the menu.

(The button type wasn't really important to get the point across.)

Quests and general stats are just fitted to the window as with everything else in System.

(Should have changed the sign color as well in the pictures... ah well.)

Why I want this...

I know I could just get SkyUI, In fact I do use it... but it seems as if it's either a trade-off between controller or the keyboard and mouse. I really don't like that, combined with the fact that it's missing that nice grid format. This seems like it would be a nice middle ground. You could also entirely get rid of that four way directional menu.

If anyone is interested into looking into it I can link you to the PSD.

You've found the mockups made during the discussions that led up to the creation of SkyUI. Many people wanted that, including the SkyUI team.

Most of the things you see in those images that aren't in SkyUI turned out to be impossible to do. The grid format and the view of the player are both something that the SkyUI team tried to do and couldn't. It also turned out that you simply can't get access to everything you need to build that "single menu" view. The four-way directional menu is a core part of the game engine.

And to your other point, SkyUI is designed to be perfectly usable with gamepad controllers. In fact, some of the differences between SkyUI and those mockups is specifically to support using gamepads. Obviously, the filter box requires using a keyboard to type your search term, but that's the only thing you can't access with the gamepad (but it wasn't available in the original interface and isn't strictly required to use the new one).
