Hey all, I was wondering if it would be possible to mod the beginning of each origin story and add a set amount of money to the player. To me, it just doesn't make much sense, especially for the human and dwarven nobles, to be completely penniless when the game begins. Of course, game balance needs to be taken into account, but even a modest sum would be better than nothing.

My suggestions:
Human Noble: Five sovereigns
Dwarven Noble: Five sovereigns*
Magi: One sovereign
Dalish Elf: Fifty silver
City Elf: Twenty-five silver
Dwarf Commoner: Twenty-five silver

* Perhaps consider reducing the value of the promissory note a bit for balance reasons.

Thoughts?

Or just use the money cheat to get 5 soverings at the start of the game?
No need for a mod then -shrugs-

Yeah, it hit me afterwards that I could do that... but I would still prefer something that doesn't feel like I'm cheating.

So... a cheat, that isn't cheating?

Wait... This always confuses me.
Just because you aren't using the consol to give your level 2 warrior 5 soverings, suddenly it is not cheating?
In a way, any mod that changed the gameplay dynamics is cheating - using new talents is cheating and so on.

Either you want money at the start of the game - i.e. cheat - or you dont.

Ummm... How about we go a little bit easier on the new members in their first thread? We kinda like the new members to feel welcome when they post here, so that they'll stick around.

I might recommend Dragon Age Mutator. Its a standalone program that adds several different very useful mods to your game. And lets you choose which ones you want to use. One of them is a higher percentage of money drops. So your character isn't quite so poor after leaving home.
This one makes more sense to me as far as immersion.
Spoiler

And let me go ahead and say it... Welcome to the nexus! ;)
