I can run DA:O at max settings with JB's texture mod and 4x AA and get 60 fps. Dragon Age 2 on medium settings with no AA runs smoothly most of the time, but it stutters quite a bit every once in a while. So far it's the only real issue I have with the game, but it's very disappointing to me. Is anyone else getting noticeably worse performance with DA2 than they do with Origins?
Unoptimized?

Get the high-res texture pack and if you are NVIDIA user. I have a thread here

That would just make the game run slower. Not sure what you're getting at.

neither of those will help him because he is running it on medium settings and without DX11

Ya I've run it with systems that should be able to eat this game like nothing and with both ATI and Nvidia cards and have seen weird random FPS drops .. and at odd places too.. like standing in an empty room and the FPS will just drop when nothing on the screen is really moving but not when I have 20 enemies on screen in a fight .. only had 2 crashes tho and those were after more than 6 hours of continuous play and alt-tabbing a lot .. so ya it's not optimized greatly.. but I'm sure patches will fix that .. look at the condition DA:O, FO:3 and FO:NV were in regards to stability when they first came out

I have seen this random lag issue from time to time, happens in battle on occasion too, very disconcerting when trying to continue with the fighting and it hangs for a couple of seconds.
Hopefully there will be some ATi/AMD optimizations coming soon
Currently running an a Phenom Quad Core with a 5850, 1GB GPU

Are you on DX10 or 11? and whats ur GPU?
Nvidia just recently released new drivers to optimize performance for DX11 gpus. I think i read somewhere ATI released some new drivers as well. Try updating ur drivers.
