Some of us never stopped playing Origins   I don't play as often as I used to, but I still play it and probably will until the next decent RPG comes on the market.

DA 2 has definitely been consolized. Am sure arcade gamers from PS3 and Xbox love this form of combat. It is what it is.

Me personally have played Origins over so much I will not be heading back. However, I am doing a replay of Awakenings as DA 2 is presently on hold. Maybe a future modder will resolve the arcade feel to combat and only then will I attempt another go at it.

To be honest , I will ALWAYS go back to DAO ... I had a hard time getting into DA2 but you know once I got use to it , I did not find it that bad.
Change is hard sometimes....and I pray they listen to the feed back and correct the issues that made this DA less playable.

I'm playing Awakenings at the moment because I missed a lot of it out when I played before, I'm enjoying it a lot more than I did DA2 which I've just about given up on.

I will go back and play as a blood mage (never tried it) and a rogue, and replay the Witch Hunt (I only played it before it was patched). And I'll probably play again Awakening, just to refresh my memories about Anders - I remember him as an annoying companion, he was much less annoying in DA2 until he started his fanatic private rebellion against the Chantry.

I will play it through, then the modding tools are published:

Things to change:

1) Deactivate exploding bodies in normal combat. Only some high power mage spells should do that. And give me please the old animations back. The new ones are sometimes beyond silly. Found a mod, that changed that.

2) WTF ... I want my old darkspawn back. This new models are ridiculous.

3) Same for Flemeth. No anminestyle Flemeth. I want to see the old woman.

4) Slow down combat. For tactic play. 'Hasted' skeletons and corpses are beyond silly. I do not like Ninjastyle-like actiongames. And speeding up my character does not solve MY problem.

5) Adjust combat difficulty - make it more difficult - for tactic play. -> except the Boss fight against the 'Ancient Stone Wraith'. Balancing seems to be oldschool today.

6) Adaption of the tactic addon from DA:O. I miss the open chests and disarm traps options. Yes, I am lazy. And please give me autoloot. ;)

7) Finishing moves. I need them. For my soul. :D

8) Adjusting of the whole combat ability and magic system, so that it can be used more often. As a tactic player I do NOT press a button every time.I can't imagine how X-Box 360 players survive this. :D

9) De-nerfing the warrior class. Worst class to play in vanilla DA2.

10) Adjusting the camera view for larger overview. My mage needs this.

In the meantime I'm back to FO3 with MMM and FONV, too , for some real mayham. :D To shrug of this bad feelings from playing DA2. I like to see many different enemies from time to time, not the same all over again and again ...

Update: Let me add something about this game and the feeling towards it.

This is Dragon "Effect" 2. No doubt. The answers and the system to answer are exactly the same as in Mass Effect 2. And like in Mass Effect, the choices are as meaningless as they were there. You are not allowed to choose anything. This is no RPG, this is a book, that you are replaying, an action-adventure.

One of the worst thing is the dungeon recycling thing. How difficult can it be to make unique dungeons for their quests? I havn't seen such thing in decades! This is really crap. Even Bethesda has learned something, and hired 10 people for dungeon creation for Skyrim. In Oblivion they had only 2 people for creating dungeons. No grafic detail can save that, because you are too bored to look at the dungeons at all.

The combat is far too fast, the NPC and critters were unnatural fast, under permanent haste spell. The ability system was not modified for the faster system. Most of the 'Bossmonster' were not balanced, they are as hard as in an bad JRPG. The mixed system, fitting for Tactic Roleplayers and Actionsplayers went wrong.

Apostates were mages, but they appear like shades.

The spawnpoints are ALL far to close, so you can see them plop out of the air. This destroys the rest of realism. The modells of some Monsters and NPC were taken from some aniime. The darkspawn isn't dark any more, it's boring. They forgot too use the scary look, and why they used it in DA:O.

The personalties of the compagnions are one-dimensional. The player does not care about them much. The multiple choise answering system ruins the rest of interaction with any NPC. Conversation for idiots.. The inability to dress the compagnions as you like is a step back, too. WHY the hell did they use the same brain-dead system like in Mass Effekt 2 for the compagnions? Did they ever learn? Maybe they should kick this people out of their company, because they will ruin BIoware.

The replay value is Zero, because we are not able too make real decisions, like killing these annoying "Sister" in the first chapter, or simple decline some tasks, because you would not be found dead doing this quests.

In my eyes, this game isn't worth 60$. It's a low budget product from the start, and the fair price for "a story Book from Dragon Age: Origins" should be 30$ at most.

They messed up, like in Mass Effect 2. Maybe it is time to search for a new producer of RPG. Amd they did it in the exact same way, alterig a working concept into something horrible.

Into a 'Fast Food C-RPG'.

Eh. I'm done with the Dragon Age series for now until some DLC comes out for DA2, until then I don't have the desire to play a second playthrough right now. DA2 is a nice game and I did enjoy it, but it still left some unsatisfying feelings behind especially on the story (or a lack of one).

The game was clearly rushed and extremely buggy, it should of had another year of development time at the minimum. Bioware is losing its touch (and getting lazy).

Oh well, time to go back to playing Oblivion. :)
