Sorry to put this here, but i just had a strange reply option when talking to Aveline. She asked a favor from me and one of the options was something like "you can ask for anything" with the heart icon. I thought she and Varric were not supposed to be LIs. So far i've never had the heart icon for either of them. Is this a bug or something?

A few heart icons are strewn about here and there for non-romances. I've seen one for Varric (as a female).
I guess they're supposed to denote flirty dialog, though one heart option with Aveline early on is just Hawke being appreciative so I have no idea what the logic is behind that.. unless someone at BioWare really thinks "I don't know what I'd do without your support" means "I want to get in your pants".

Well my Hawke is female too, so that's what made it even stranger. I don't think Aveline is the kind that would go for both Ms and Fs. And it was not just one heart option, as if Hawke was trying to talk her out of hitting on that Donnic guy and choosing her instead. Anyways, thanks for clearing that out.

You can try to romance characters like Aveline.
[SPOILER] > It just won't go all the way to a romance.
Also you are free in real life to flirt with people who will never fall for you; so I don't see why this is a problem? In truth I would prefer it if they kept this into ME3 and DA3; so that you can try to flirt with anyone you like, they just might respond with a cold shoulder, or even get annoyed.
