HTTPRO
Hello everyone, I'm new here to the forums and I was wondering if I could get some advice and help from the veterans to suggest any mods that I should get. I usually played this game on my console but since it went on sale during the steam sale with all its dlcs, I bought it. Anyway, I wanted to know what mods I should get. In my mind I wanna keep the same gameplay, I just want better aesthetics and immersion, since I already played this game so much in the console. BTW my rig is a 4690k, 8gb ram, GTX 970 Asus, and the game is in a 1TB 7200RPM HDD. I just wanted to let you know so that you wouldn't be held back by my pc. Thanks in advance. NO nude mods, or any sexual ones.
Oubliette
1. You can find the most popular mods for any game the Nexus hosts by going to that game's mod site, clicking on "Files" at the top of the page and scrolling down to the "top 100" list. 2. More important than the mods you want is knowing proper installation, uninstallation, testing, and problem solving skills necessary for mod use. Expect to take several days of testing to get things working correctly, test each mod as you install it. Do not install new mods on an ongoing save and you'll be off to a good start. 3. Disregard number 2 at your own peril.
DoctorKaizeld
by the way many of the nude mods out there have none nude versions of them if you want to take advantage of much better looking game characters.
BlackRoseOfThorns
As stated above you should first fix your game with stability tweaks:-NMM or Mod Organizer for mod installation-TES5Edit5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw3g_N1jcZQ-LOOT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzoyWugzZAw-Wyre Bash - make bashed patch for mods editing loot/enemy list https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkmTZP1SyIA-SKSE http://skse.silverlock.org/-SKSE ini with memory patch and skyrim .inis for Enb http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/68477/?-Enboost (or any recent Enb preset) http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENB-Unofficial Skyrim Patch (Vanilla / Dawnguard / Dragornborn / Heartfire) You should consider getting female body without underwear. All high quality skin textures are made for nude body types like UNP/UNPB/UUNP/7Base/CBBE. When installing body type usually you can pick underwear option, but it won't be compatible with custom retextures like Real Girls, SG Texure Reneval, etc. Check my posts in these threads for gameplay and graphic mods (enhanced vanilla style):http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3161829-discussion-do-you-like-skyrim-with-many-or-a-few-mods/http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3171689-skyrim-restart-looking-for-must-have-mods/
Jannifer
The Unofficial Patches for Skyrim and its DLC are essential. They fix many hundreds of problems ranging from mismatched world pieces to broken quests. Nexus Mod Manager is a friendly tool for installing and uninstalling mods. It's not a bad idea to go ahead and install SKSE and SkyUI. And, pay attention to Oubliette's advice. Read all descriptions thoroughly so that you know what the mod requires, how to install it and how to uninstall it. It isn't a bad idea to make a character that you use just for testing mods so that your "real" game doesn't get borked. Be aware that Skyrim will CTD and freeze; it happens even on the best rigs and even with an unmodded game. Good luck!
notmyhome
If you're completely new to modding, I'd recommend having a look at the STEP project. They offer a curated selection of essential bugfixes, neat retextures, and tools. Even better, they explain their usage in great detail.
fraquar
I second notmyhome's recommendation. In particular, head to Neovalen's Skyrim Revisited - Legendary Edition and just cover Sections 1 through 3. That forms the stable base for any additional modding you intend to do. http://wiki.step-project.com/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited_-_Legendary_Edition Once you have Sections 1 through 3 complete then you are ready to start actually adding mods to your game. Neovalen does a very good job of giving the details of exactly what you need to do. Edited August 31, 2015 by fraquar
Stargazer09
Here's what I would consider essential, in my opinion, some of these are not mods per se, but external programs that:are almost indispensable if you want to delve into mods: External programsSKSE - a lot of mods require this.Nexus Mod Manager (or Mod Organiser, your choice) - to organise, activate and deactivate mods.LOOT - a program that helps sort your mods into the correct order to prevent CTDs Mods:SkyUIOfficial and unofficial patches (one each for main game and DLCs)Categorised Favorites Menu - sorts your menu & inventory Everything else is really a matter of preference of the individual. JustATac0
I was a console player first as well with Skyrim. Switched to PC a while ago but I don't really mod it too much. I would recommend just look at the most popular mods and see which one would work for you best :)
ufkal
So, let me ask this. I have about 40 hours of gameplay in. This is my first time through the game. Bouncing all over the place and I just got the elder scroll. I started adding Mods a couple of weeks ago, and again with out fully reading stuff (my bad. I know better now.) So the question here is simple, Based on where I am in the game should I just scrap the whole thing and start over following the legendary edition guide, or continue on? I don't know how much more of the game there is or isn't. I'm level 41, I have all the DLC's and my mods are in no semblance of order. I'm fairly certain I can't just move my save files to a different location and then follow the directions for legendary and the restore a save and go from there can i? Thanks for the help in advance y'all. I'm a noob and I freely admit it.
