I figured out what I want to do for my next mod, but I can't find a detailed tutorial on here or the bioware forums on how. And before you point out this tutorial, it doesn't really help for texture editing.
I just want to know how to extract them, (what files I need to lood for in the gff editor) obviously I would edit them in gimp(too poor for photoshop
), and then i believe export them using the gibbed erf packer. Then it should work? I think, so I just need to know where I find the textures.

the tutorial you point to has all the tools you need, except the paint tools. the editor and the erf_packer are what you will need for sure. download them, unpack them into one folder, like in the tutorial.
get the fnvdump-20110320.zip aswell, or you wont have all the textures with right names after unpacking. see description on this site
http://social.biowar...ect/1936/#files
for textures you need these files:
DA 2 Folder\packages\core\data\artfp.erf (has all the char and armor textures)
or
DA 2 Folder\packages\core\textures\high\highrescharacterartfp.erf (from biowares highres texture pack)
1> create a folder where you want the vanilla textures in
2> start the editor from the pyGFF Editor you that you downloaded.
3> click on file and chose export all
4> locate one of the above erf's or any erf you want to unpack
5> pick the folder you created as target location
6> wait till its done, can take a while
7> create a folder with the name you want your mod file called
8> create the folder structure as in the folder where you just unpacked the vanilla textures (just the structure for the files you wanna include in your mod)
9> place the .dds files you wanna retexture in it
10> get a paint tool that can open and save .dds files
11> do your retexture and save the files
for the files to work ingame later you need to have them in the same folder structure as they are in the base .erf files. when you unpack the textures you will have the structure of folders there. just create them for your mod aswell.
for isabela textures this could look like "HDD\Isabela Mod v1\art\characters\playercharacter\humanfemale\textures"
when you are done with the texture work drag the "Isabela Mod v1" folder on the "Gibbed.Bioware.ErfPack.exe".
it will create a .erf called "Isabela Mod v1.erf" in the folder above your Isabela Mod v1 folder.
copy the erf to Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age 2\packages\core\override (or a sub folder in there)
play the game with your retexture.
hope this helps
