I am pissed that im trying to use some cheats that i found the the tilde key(~) wont work!

Does anyone have a explanation to this? i have beat the main quest, head the the DB, Arena Grandchampion, Arch-Mage of the mages guild, and i want to have some fun! Can anyone help me!!

what do you mean the ~ key wont work? like if you press it nothing happens? or you press it type the cheat hit enter then nothing happens? what cheat are you using? and are you shure its a proper cheat?

Shouldn't this be in General Oblivion anyway? It has nothing to do with a mod or modding.

If the problem is that you can't open the console at all... Well the chance this is the problem is very small, unless you're the young brother of someone who complained here a while ago that he didn't like that his brother cheated, who we advised to disable the console.

Anyway... Go to the 'my documents/my games/oblivion' folder and find the oblivion.ini file. Find the line bAllowConsole, and see what it's set to. It should be 1.

As for your problem, do you have a UK/Europian configured keyboard? If so, ~ won't work, you need to press the ` key to the left of the 1 key.

Try going to your .ini file and checking to see use the find feature to search for bAllowConsole. If it says 'bAllowConsole=0', change it to say 'bAllowConsole=1' and you will be able to use the '~' key to bring up the console.

I had it set to 1 already and it still didnt work, i am trying other numbers to see if they work!

The .ini file only recognises 0 (no) and 1(yes). Any others will...I'm not sure what they will do...

Well...I still cant access the console, it is set to one, and yet it wont work, i live in Canada so it should work, as for your queston gumballthechewy, i can not bring up the console at all, let alone use a cheat! If there is anybody out there who may have an answer then plz HELP

Does the key work properly? That is, can you type ` and ~ in other applications?

EDIT: Also, shouldn't the title be "Why DOESN'T the Tilde key work?
