I have given this file my endorsement.

For me personally, the quest unwinds a little bit too fast, and also sometimes in strange circumstances. It would be nice if there were more conditions that had to be met for each stage (also for the various discussions Ruined-Tail starts on your travels), like "one ingame week has to have passed" or something like that, so that you actually get to travel together with Ruined-Tail for some time... 500 seconds in between quest stages is barely enough time to buy some loot and get out of a city, or to clear one level of a dungeon.
By strange circumstances I mean that I was in a dungeon with Ruin, and he remained passive, so I wanted to change his fighting style. We were sneaking and there was an enemy right around the corner which I wanted to engage. And even though "Ruin wants to talk" hadn't been added, he started a philosophical discussion when I spoke to him. So, okay, first answer all his questions... then after that, "Ruin wants to talk" got added, which meant that I couldn't change his fighting style again!

But uh, that's all just nitpicking really. The story is great, the characters are interesting, and I wish there were more mods like this one. :)
(Oh wait, there ARE, and they're made by the same guy AND already in my load order! Life is sweet.)

This mod is the best companion mod out there. there's so much diversity within Ruin himself. To to it all off, he cameo's in the authors other excellent mods AND he has a quest line to keep you entertained!

Superb

I recommend this to anyone looking for the be-all-end-all companion mod. Playing through RTT was truly an exhausting and rewarding experience that I won't soon be forgetting!

Ruin's dialogue is engaging, fun, sad, thought-provoking, and occasionally amusing at all the right moments. The ShadowScale lair was expertly crafted, and there were quite a few touches to it that I quite enjoyed. For instance, the entrance/exit to the lair is illuminated in red so that you don't get lost trying to find your way.

Mild Spoilers:

I was very happy with the "romance" option for Ruin and the actual buildup of said romance. It felt natural, and it was very easy for me to get sucked into romancing an argonian--something I didn't think I'd ever be doing! Ruin's naivete and sometimes shy attitude served as a welcome foil to his sometimes overbearingly philosophical and inquisitive personality.

The ending was terrific and everything I have ever hoped to experience from a mod. I'm sad, however, that I will never be able to see Ruin again. When I finish with my explorations of Tamriel, I plan on putting my character to bed and turning off the game forever, sort of as a send-off for her to pass in her sleep and move on to be with Ruin! Okay, so that was kind of cheesy.

Here are the only issues I had:

- I seemed to be unable to open Ruin's cell door near the end of the game. I had his cell key, but when I used it, it just said that the lock was "Very Hard" and didn't give me the option to lockpick. I tried the console command "unlock," which didn't work. I finally had to resort to the console command "disable," which just removed the door entirely.

- Whenever I accidentally attacked Ruin, he would come after me! I would have liked to see maybe just a flash of text in the form of dialogue (but that didn't halt the gameplay) that said something to the effect of "watch your sword." I usually just had to kill Ruin and re-summon him, but sometimes just re-summoning him worked to do away with his temper tantrum.

- In the book "Ruined-Tail's Tale," the "shadow" is referred to several times as "he." I would have liked to see a more gender-neutral pronoun or to have stuck with "its" (referring to the shadow), as my character is decidedly female.

End Spoilers

All in all, I highly recommend this mod! I'll be trying more of this author's mods very soon.

I really like this mod, since a lot of companions dont tend to focus on story as much as this one does. The story is great as well. I was also able to play through this mod with little to no difficulties or bugs, although i did have to use the walkthrough at certain parts, but that's me at fault, not your mod :). When i first met up with ruin, i decided to walk to the battered dragon. However, when i left the IC, ruin decided to get on Vilja's horse, Bruse. This wasn't a problem at first, but when i arrived at the battered dragon, I found that he wouldn't get off the horse no matter what i did, so in the end i was forced to disable Bruse from the game. Still, all in all it was a great mod and i really enjoyed playing through it :)

The mod is fantastic. The best I've ever played. I almost cried at the end.
So I decided to play it one more time with a new char. But I got a problem. Could someone please help me?

Ruin doesn't want to leave after 8 companion conversations (at the point where I have to "rest" for a while). Disabling all other mods didn't help. Looks like I can keep Ruin with me forever, but I do want the quest to go on. Moving quest stages via console is also useless. And as I don't get the Oblivion scripting, I can't solve the problem on my own. I'd blame my game version (1.1.511). But I have already played Ruined-Tail's Tale and it worked fine. I have no idea what's happening now :(

Sorry for possible grammar mistakes.

I've started to play through the quest and found it quite excellent. I especially like the VB easter egg in the Burning Dragon, two thumbs up!

By far the best Quest & Companion mod ever. Ever! lol I cant believe how hooked i got and it was pure genius how its a companion mod for a nice while then it explodes into an amazing story i found myself, once i finished it, wanting Ruin back lol he was an amazing character with such depth which is pretty rare in Oblivion. Amazing. I hope ur making more oblivion mods.

Theres a reason why you make the damn best mods ever, and one day I wanna know why that is. That is to say, for now I heartily give this a full endorsement and thank you for the greatest adventures i've ever experience in any videogame, ever.

Thnaks for doing this. A companion with real depth and with a good story, exactly what this game needs.
