So much fun to play, even though I haven't completed it yet! Question though, it is normal that you get refereed to as a boy, even if you are playing a female?
Also, for anyone having the problem with the "Activate" key not working after you wake up in the mine, I had that problem too and removed a bunch of mods and all the DLC's and it worked again ... (I think maybe the Knights or Shivering Isles does it, I had to remove both of those while doing Malevolent too...)

After playing through Ruined Tails Tail and now Tears of the Fiend, I feel it's the time for giving this mod a comment it deserves.
This quest is is probably one of the most complex and challenging stories ever made for Oblivion! I must admit that, at the beginning, I had some trouble getting used to the way Simyaz is guiding you through his quite complicated plot (I was even a bit annoyed somewhere in the middle of it). The main reason for that was that you soon start to realize that simply giving one wrong answer in a dialog can already be enough reason to prohibit you to complete the quest, at least on its "optimal" path - you'll learn you have just put yourself once more into one of the many "dead-end" traps that the author has provided, but without knowing or being able to realize what you should have done. This is an intelligent and demanding approach, and sometimes it makes you feel a bit too helpless.
But then I started using the walkthrough, and this turned the whole thing into something really amazing and moving. In my opinion, you shouldn't mind using the walkthrough (and I believe that you have to use it). Even more, the author himself is recommending it in his foreword, and I quickly realized why: This plot is nothing you can "run through" in the usual way. Several solutions are simply too heavy to be found alone. But that's not a pity, because the joy in playing this mod lies in diving into an epic story based on complex characters, alternative paths and evolution.
If you admit to the author's schemes (which may take some time, if you should have grown too used to the standard quest schemes in the game), then you'll get rewarded with a very interesting, novel-like tale that gives you lots of motivation to think about. There is an amount of philosophy in it (as it was already in Ruined Tails Tale): Even a greenhorn like me can find a lot of Rousseau, Camus and Kant in the discussions that you are having with Allecia and Cleon. It's all about the never-ending struggle of a heroic individual, trying to allocate himself between free will and fate, between facing your destiny and giving in to self-deception - a struggle that always seems to lead to an ultimate decision between peaceful illusion on the one hand and self-chosen doom on the other. The silent question, however, around which all of this evolves is: Is there some other way for the hero(s) to find redemption in between such irreconcilable antipodes of human existence? In other words: This is the material from which the greatest fantasy novels are made!
I believe that Simyaz is a really gifted narrator, who has successfully tried to bring such big literary stuff into a computer game, which would normally not be capable of really transporting such deep thoughts (just think of the "mechanical" dialog style in Oblivion that can never convince you that you are really talking to something other than a machine). However, his attempt to exceed these limits is brilliant and creates a new dimension of ingame story-telling! I have never reflected and brooded so much over a quest in the aftermath like over this one (and it is still working in my brain right now, as you might see from this long post!
). And I have got so fond of Allecia and Cleon in the end, that it now hurts to keep them as mere companions, to watch them being handed back over to the game engine, only to fall back to normal "NPC robot" schemes again ("A pleasure to speak with you"). But this feeling of regret is just another part of the charms that "Tears of the Fiend" is bearing on you.
I have played Ruined Tails Tale before, and now Tears of the Fiend, and so I will be happy to play Malevolent after all, to complete the trilogy. I am looking forward to it!

Unfortunately, some of the commentators have missed the whole point of the mod... or maybe just aren't used to see such point. This mod is not your average kill this-bring that, it requiers a little bit of your imagination, fill yourself in... be a part of the game for a while, take the mod seriously and you will be blown away... it has choises and reactions, emotions, story, puzzles and ofcourse it's a great addition to oblivion in general as answering "who am i? who was i?" I salute mr. Simyaz and thank him for this great work. After all people, it's the work of almost a single person.
