great mod I enjoy this thoroughly although I think that the crossbows are a little bit too heavy.

I love these crossbows, Slow and powerful...just remember to go for your sword or mace after firing the crossbow...you might not get a chance to reload it...lol

Nice mod, makes my character look even more "scallywag".
The animations are not amazing!, but they are better then expected, and good enough, I like the way especially the crossbow is held when not aiming or while sneaking around, looks really good.
One thing I do not like however, but this is only a minor flaw, is the lag I get when the crossbow is reoriented when jumping back and forth from my inventory screen. I understand that this flaw is close to impossible to mend.
But overall, this is a great mod.
I haven't seen any NPCs actually firing a crossbow, but from what I can tell, they are wearing it, so I assume they will use it if needed.
PS.
because of the power and force of the crossbow, I recommend using "bullet camera" mod with this mod. It lets you follow the bolts you fire with the camera and slow motion when it impacts (and hopefully kill) the enemy.

Very nice mod. I don't know why Bethesda left crossbows out of the game.
Thanks for sharing!

This works as described and the crossbows look awesome. Why Bethesda never added these to the game is bizarre but thank you for making them nonetheless. Awesome work. I love the realistic time it take to draw the bolt. Makes u rethink your strategy on attacks. Great job.
@ShieGie,
Uhh, it is a crossbow. Go and google them. Also, bolts do not magically appear in a crossbow ready to be fired. That happens in World of Warcraft with the new expansion with unlimited ammo. lol You do have to load them. However, if you feel you can make a better looking and performing crossbow for the game........go for it.

Crossbows of Cyrodiil
Now compatible with Duke Patrick's Combat Archery and Advanced Magecraft mods! This mod adds a variety of fully functioning crossbows and bolts to Oblivion. They can be found throughout Cyrodiil and the Shivering Isles on NPCs, at vendors, and as loot.
