Power armor and tight armor changes

So I haven't ever really posted on this forum before like this, but I figured with how excited I am for fallout 4 and actually being involved in making a mod for it, I might as well use all this energy talking about it in the mean time. I kinda want feedback and a sort of list of things from people who play differently or are more familiar with the lore then I am.

 

This idea may be split up into two or three different mods depending on feedback, but basically I don't really like how Bethesda gave us this awesome method of upgrading and customizing our power armor only to give it a linear progression that renders previous models of PA useless after you get the "newer" stuff.

 

So for one mod (or one component of the mod, idk yet) I want to give the different power armors different utility. for instance these are my thoughts at the moment.

 

 

I'll update the post with actual numbers another day, but the numbers will all be based around the armors that are already in game to maintain balance.

 

T45: I'm thinking of making this a very physically durable set of power armor. With little to no energy resistance and some radiation resistance. It will also weigh quite a bit, likely second heaviest. After doing some research I think I'll give it some mods and buffs for melee fighters, +STR and have a wider selection of melee mods then the others. It will however come with a penalty to agility (more so then others).

 

T51: This will be less physically protective then the T45, however It will have a higher energy and radiation protection. Additionally It will be the second lightest, and I may look into a minor speed buff with each piece. Going to have more of a focus on gun-play with this armor maybe.

 

T60: This will be the heaviest as it is the largest of all the power armors I'll likely make it have the best "well rounded" defensive stats, As the brotherhood developed it, and they seam to focus on Rad protection that may be where this armor shines, but it will almost certainly be the heaviest of the armors and I'll consider a very minor speed debuff. as you're basically indestructible in it.

 

"Advanced power armor" : This will be the lightest of the armors with a very minor speed increase and if the kit allows me to, it'll have no penalty to agility. However it will be less defensive then the T60. The stats that it will have will be higher then the lowest stat of the T45 or the T51, so It will be a balanced set of light power armor that will have less health then other armor variants and need to be repaired more often.

 

On top of stat changes the types of mods you can put into the armors will be looked at and I may even add some new mods that will be exclusive the each type of armor.

The Second Part is making more under armors viable, vault suits can be upgraded to incredible numbers, but most other under armor is totally under-powered by comparison. Simply put I'm going to allow other under armors to be modded and upgraded just like vault suits. If anyone has any suggestions for armors to be added to this list just leave a comment.

 

 

BOS Suit - will be upgraded to have less total stats then vault suit, but will have inate rad resist to compensate

 

Road leather - Will have similar stats to vault suit with a tilt towards physical damage.

 

 

 

 

For the record this is all subject to change and I'm eager to hear feedback on all this.
