i haveplenty of experience retexturing and operating the construction set, but i want to create my own meshes and change existing meshes. i just can't get nifskope to do anything except let me rotate around and zoom. if anyone knows how to actually do anything, please tell me how to do it!! you can also email me at 'aeowynmage@gmail.com'

You can't create new meshes in nifskope, and there are limited edits you can do with that program (mostly cutting and pasting among existing files). For that, the right click button is your friend. For anything bigger, you need Max or Blender.
