bardathe111 Posted November 28, 2015 Share Posted November 28, 2015 Okay, so I have something of a strange CTD in Solitude and I cannot seem to figure it out. Now, I have been modding Skyrim for quite some time so I will post everything I have already tried in order to fix it. First, on the crash itself; the crash only occurs when loading the actual Solitude cell and it does not occur everytime I load it. It may allow me to load Solitude 2 or 3 times before it crashes. Upon restarting after a ctd, it will usually load the Solitude cell. If it doesn't, I have to coc to a different area that loads into Solitude. (ie. if I am in the Winking Skeever and it just won't let me out, I'll coc to the Blue Palace and that will usually work.) Skyrim Setup: I use LOOT for the load order, I clean the appropriate mods and official plugins with TES5Edit, I use a bashed patch through Wrye Bash, I use NMM to install almost all of my mods, I run SKSE with the ini memory settings, and I run the ENBoost speedhack. As for what I've already done to try to fix it, I completely uninstalled all programs, mods, and files (including deleting saves etc.) associated with Skyrim and then redownloaded and reinstalled them; I have done this twice. I tried disabling all mods and that worked, so i disabled every mod individually, and the crash occured every time. Then I tried running only one mod at a time, and this also worked. I thought maybe it was a conflict with the new combat mods I added (I had none of the combat mods before the ctds and they were the only ones I added before the occurrences began.), but disabling all of them did not fix the issue. I then thought that, becuase of the way it was happening, maybe the SKSE mem patch was reaching the RAM limit so I installed Sheson's MemoryBlocksLog and it is, in fact, not hitting the 512 limit that I set. Also, I see that you have Legacy of the Dragonborn.esp, TAVESolitude.esp, and Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul.esp in your load order. You may have too many mods that affect Solitude. Legacy of the Dragonborn is a very script heavy mod (within the boundaries of Solitude) and I noticed a huge lag (20 fps drop) in Solitude when I installed it with Dawn of Solitude and Solitude Reborn. You have quite a few plug-ins and might want to consider merging a few (armor mods and simple mods like moss rocks, left hand rings, patches, etc). You've got quite a few "big" (Helgen Reborn, Wyrmstooth, Falskaar, Legacy of the Dragonborn, ect) and it might help to consolidate your load order. I know the rule is 255 plugin limit - but many people have problems when their plug-in count goes over 220. I personally have over 350 plug-ins merged down to about 180 and have found my game is more stable with fewer plug-ins. I have most of the STEP fixes, armor mods, weapon mods, and various patches (RS Children) merged into categorized esps. I hope this helps. I just looked up TAVESolitude.esp - it's a mod from Steam Workshop. A few of the user comments mentioned that it had dirty edits and needs to be cleaned with TES5Edit. So, most of the mods you've listed don't merge automatically with Wrye Bash and I am somewhat unfamiliar with using Bash Tags, so I was afraid I might screw something up doing that. How might I go about it? As to the script-heavy mods for Solitude, they haven't been a problem before, though they certainly still could be my issue. archtrtd1 Posted November 28, 2015 Share Posted November 28, 2015 I don't think were talking about the same type of "merging". Wrye Bash does merge some types of mods into the Bashed patch. I don't really understand how Wrye Bash even selects which mods can be merged into the Bashed Patch. I am talking about creating a new plug-in that contains several mods merged into one. I use TES5Edit to merge mods (and to clean them if LOOT or BOSS says the mod has dirty edits). The Merge Plugins xEdit Script automates the process and makes it so much easier than manually merging plug-ins. It is found here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37981/? It actually digs deeper than mod name and actually analyzes the content of the mod (whether it's an armor, has scripts, etc) to determine the best load order.
