Two quick questions. 1) Were you aware of this thread's existence that detailed the methods in which you achieved this mod? If so, due credit is necessary to the OP of said thread. 2) The same thread also underlines a problem with armor pieces having a stacking effect with the companion's default attire, thus unbalancing the game somewhat. Does this also affect your mod?

Revan,
1) No clue on that thread. I don't browse forums over there ever -- i need a mod, i come to nexus. But thanks for pointing that page out, interesting read. I have spent about 5-10 mins glancing through the 5-6 pages and it seems overly complicated for me to read through at this time of night - a lot of editing saved games??
2) If you read the bug/glitch description, I listed stats stack on top of companions - so don't upgrade companion armor if you want a balanced game.
Now when I make mods, I don't spend hours searching and browsing to see if it's been made or not. I browse nexus often so I know this hasn't been offered -- hence, I spend a few minutes to mod for myself. Extracting .gda and editing is pretty simple, dating back to DA:O modding days.

@dragonagefun
I wasn't being accusatory, merely curious. In any case, I'm sorry I missed the part about companion armor stacking. The problem is, companion's default armors scale with their level, very much like evolving items, hence my point with unbalancing the game. In fact, that thread underlines some solutions to the problem. Perhaps you could incorporate them into this mod? Would make things simpler... though it requires editing the .utc files of individual companions, in addition to the tweaks you have already done.

There are really only 2 or 3 companion armors I'd change if I could: Sebastian and Anders and (maybe) Fenris and Merrill (I wish!).
Still, neat idea for a mod. So, I take it this would mod work for changing the armor appearance of Anders or Sebastian?

Thanks for doing this. If I add only boots, gloves and helmets to my companions (since I like how they look) will I still be able to modify their normal armor just like in the vanilla game?

Cephasjames,
If you add boots/gloves/helm, the chest should keep default appearance.
Aedan819,
I am uploading 2 more files. Pick a version you want to use, but the files will allow Anders / Isabella / Sebastian to customize their armor look. HOWEVER - they will lose their default armor appearance (they appear naked until you put armor on them).
Everyone,
Remember the companion's base armor stats are hardcoded into the game so they always have those stats. Wearing armor on companions will overlap and increase their base stats. This makes them much stronger. I tested stats on my end-game saved game, and it does not seem overly powerful. BUT, equipping armor on your companions will definitely make the game easier because your companions are stronger.
Please read the bug reports in the description page for more information.

Keeping an eye on this as it looks fantastic. If the armor didn't reset or make the characters naked in cutscenes it would be epic. I think the problem with Fenris, Varric and Merrill is there are no Elf/Dwarf meshes for the armor hence they don't work, it would probably be possible to add meshes and possibly random loot drops for more varied armor but that would take an awful lot of work and a proper toolset
Still, very nice work!

Delixe,
You are absolutely correct. DA2 was a rush job (reused maps, loot for only PC etc..) so a lot of model mesh is missing. Also because the game assumes companion armor never change, the game pulls their "default" skin often -- hardcoded in the script somewhere. Can't find it sorry =P
Hotjing83,
Thanks! I am doing a Nightmare playthrough with a battle-mage (trying to make an arcane warrior type mage) with the mod. It has been very fun dressing up Isabela, Merril, and Aveline so far. Glad you like it!
