Man i am really glad someone has finally added this as a feature, and not only that, you've integrated it so well! I had wanted this as a feature for some time.
Now all we need is someone to import horses under the name "Robot Horse", like that of which you see posters of everywhere.

One thing, for balancing issues perhaps you could limit the amount of robot followers to two or three?

Oh, my lord...
Finally, my mostly non-combatant scientist/diplomat can be realized. (Level scheme to max out Science, Speech, Repair, and Barter... and take Energy Weapons to ~45skill for use with Laser Pistols, only.)
One of the most creative mods I've found so far.

some bugs: sometimes if you're not the killer of the robot, script won't run.. script doesn't seem to run on your own destroyed robot companions.. and if you turn something into a pile of ash/goo it won't run there either..
Other than that awesome work.. I'd love to see this work on uniques as well.. MR WADSWORTH SHALL COME WITH ME.. as he sucks at cleaning my house

i just think you shoud make perk ask for 60-75 science and repair skillz...
and maybe some more parts, like conductor, maybe even lazor pistol?..

awesome idea. But i think that it need some limitation to number of robominions. May be based on inteligence (science, repair). For example:
number of robots = (int/2 - 5) + (science+repair)/40
number of robots = int*(science+repair)/200
edit: or Psycats's idea - 1 by level of perk
