I think my post from before may have been erased but my problem is I talked to the archaeoligst about the butcher, but for some reason it did not update my quest for him and I cant get a book on him, did I have to talk to more than one archaeoligist?

shawnl - Very strange. I assume you talked to Biff in the Excavatin Site and he told you all about Armindale?

If he did, and it still didn't update, bring down the console by pressing "~" and type "set ZZTheButcher.StartButcherQuest to 1" (Obviously without the commas.")

After that, speak to Phinteas in First Edition in the Market District of Imperial City to start the Quest.

I am playing TotF and all that was problematic works fine now, thanks!...

But now I am stuck while searching for the Butcher :
Spoiler
... Clueless.

... Btw, Simyaz made a reference in another post about pricing (80AUS)... So you guys are from Australia! Kewlll...

steeltooth? He's a stalker, don't mind him... He describes a context which is not even near what takes place in this mod, he's just a stupid arse who thinks that bringing people down will help him "win"... The "way of life" as depicted by his mass-medias and their imbecile God-$, promoting a backward and secular mentality : all about winning over others, all about conflicts that must get raised, up to the point of inventing stories and lying so as to get involved into beer-mug fights and have the "chance" to show that one is more "manly" than the other... Like a bunch of stupid self-gratifying show-offs: instead of putting efforts on one self-development, it's more easy to destroy others, however that must be done, but who really knows what is involved into the "winning" part, "Win" what? Darwin's theory is much too often misinterpreted by stupid dogmatic neodarwinist people, throwing away the human part so as to leave all the room to the animal part (my wolf-dog has more respect, honnor and loyalty btw), in which sense a polar bear should be on top of their twisted and revisited evolutionary theory since these are the most powerful and deadly animals if you fumble on them... lol

HawkFest - In that dream sequence with the conspirators, there were 2 clues given that essentially indicate where his final resting place is.

If you still cannot figure it out, have a look at the Tears of the Fiend guide for instructions on how to find it. =)

Yeah ok for the dream, but unfortunately as in real life I can't have the exact same dream twice... And I did not take any note of it. But Aha!... There's a guide allright... I assumed too prompltly there wasn't, sorry to have bothered you.

My god... This mod looks awesome, I found it at first by seeing THE LEGACY on Planet Elder Scrolls. I'm going to DL it, but from the looks of it, it deserves a ten out of five.

I encountered a strange glitch. After I was expelled from Maris' house, I re-entered while he was still there. When I was expelled again I began drifting down through the landscape as though collision had been turned off. I used the console to toggle collision off, moved above ground level, and toggled it on again. I again began drifting down through the ground. At that point I exited the game.

Is there anything in the script that moves the player out of the house that might have this strange effect on collision when the script runs more than once?

cbankston - The way you tried to solve that puzzle wasn't how it is supposed to be solved. As to the problem... If you were sneaking it has been known to happen occassionally, and is actually a bug with Oblivion's collision detection while a player is sneaking (specifically to do with flash-zoning.) The only way to resolve it? Remove that sequence... Since the TOTF Guide (including in the 7z file) tells you what to do there, I decided it was worth the risk.

ClamaN - The writing was DESIGNED to stick out from the beginning. Because I wanted The Legacy/The Butcher (and later TOTF) to be DISTINCTLY different from every other quest (be it from Vanilla Oblivion, Official Expansions or player made MODs.) It was also done to humiliate Bethesda a bit by indicating how sloppy their mass-market orientated writing was.

Regarding changing your characters history...
Well, in a previous version of The Legacy ReadMe (I can't actually remember WHY I removed it) I actually outlined my concerns relating to exactly that. I detailed the fact that I worried that since my target audience were story-orientated role-players, most of them will already have created their own back story for their character. Thus, by creating the story of The Legacy I was FURTHER alienating my already slender fanbase, thus almost negating the purpose in creating the MOD in the first place. I discussed it with my co-developer at the time (Wizard of Thay) and eventually came to the conclusion that since it TECHNICALLY doesn't ACTUALLY affect the Player's Character's story (merely adds an untold chapter into it, as well as the rationale behind WHY the Player didn't know it previously) REGARDLESS of what story the Player chose to create for his character, as WELL as whatever lineage he/she chose to create... The Legacy doesn't ACTUALLY alter any of it. It all remains unadultered in the context that The Legacy exists in... in the same way that your character's past in Morrowind remains unadultered even after the revelation of precisely WHAT you are. Thus, it was an acceptable risk.
