[NOTE] Saved games made with the mod won't load without that mod

This wasn't true a few months ago, but in general mods and DLC can add gamestates and refer to abilities, etc, that aren't present if the mod is later disabled, so this functionality was added.

I'd actually like a "developer option" to go ahead and load without the DLC/mod, but "user beware".

Also, the same thing applies to Mods and DLC, as they are treated basically the same.

Someone mentioned this tweak for corrupt saves. Doubt itll work, but worth a try. Looks more like a launcher ini file than something that would fix saves. Maybe someone will make a 3rd party tool that removes mod dlc/mods like a Fallout save editor/wrybash. I cant confirm as im still downloading the damn game because my internet absolutely sucks, country life...

Tweaks depend on the mod very much. For example, free camera mod no matter how small it is, replaces the original class with a child class and this child class gets into a save. Now imagine how engine would behave when trying to load up a save and instantiate a missing class.

To sum things up: I wouldn't recommend tinkering with saves if you don't want your campaign ruined. Pick your mods carefully, Commanders! ;)

Strangely... ALL of my saves are now gone from the folder itself -- except for the very first file created yesterday morning (save2)!

Four good enough missions later, everything has now been wasted. Including every steps of the tutorial cycle.

Arrrgggghh.

Oh :( That's bad.

New props like hats -> uninstalled -> fall back to default look

Camera angle -> uninstalled -> fall back to extended Camera class

I can see the point of missing variables and classes, but there are cases, where invalidating the save is too much.

Is there a Fix yet? I lost many hours because of that friggin hat.

EDIT:

I just found this in the Mod's Workshop thread:

Kodyack | Vor 7 Stunden
alright, to those with borken saves I did find a semi-possible fix, it worked for me at least; go into the steam/steamapps/content/268500/617(something), after subscribing to this mod, and then change EVERY INSTANCE of the name of this one to "FancyTopHat". I can't say if the hat still works or if it breaks somehow; but this will allow you to use your saves.

DefaultModOptions.ini is overridden and rewritten by the launcher, so editing it won't matter.

The only time I set value in it is when I am launching the game directly in debug mode, bypassing the launcher. This is possible by launching XCom.exe directly (not through steam) using the appropriate commandline arguments.
