Yeah, that's a well known "feature" of Oblivion. All the more reason to remember about saving often and in different slots.
On the bright side, you've got a unique chance to replay this great mod. The reward at the end of part 2 is well worth it

Good news though. Turns out there's a compatibility problem with Minimap mod and custom made quests/interiors. The minimap mod starts freaking if there's too many custom made interiors (Caves, forts, etc.) I had no choice but to disable it in order to keep playing the Lost Spires quest. I might try the daggerfall quest again later in the future.
