So I bought the direct to download version of dragon age origins and want to install mods. I found another forum that had some steps (can be found here: http://social.biowar...58/index/519337 ) but it went a little over my head, and I couldn't find any of the mods "mod/Manifest.xml" files. I also found this DAModWrangler ( http://www.echomist....dWrangler.shtml ) but whenever I open it it gives me a warning message stating "Unable to load AddIns.xml" and goes on to say "The file AddIns.xml contains vital data about installed mods. This file cannoy be read, which means that DAModWrangler (and Dragon Age) cannot tell what mods are installed. If you have used DAModWrangler before, it may have made a backup file which it can restore." The options it gives me are "Restore backup" or "Quit" considering this is the only time I've ever opened the file, I highly doubt I'll have a backup but I click regardless, and it opens to a blank layout.

I'm not sure what to do next.
Sorry if I went way overboard with the details but I feel like I'm going crazy considering.
If you can offer any form of help it would be greatly appreciated.

Also this is the first time I'm downloading mods so please be gentle with me!

Sorry, the D2D version does not support many mods. Not the fault of Bethesda, but of D2D. Their extra protection blocks some things such as the OBSE program required for a lot of mods. And,if you don't have the latest patch, you MUST get that fromD2D as the Bethesda version will not work. Please direct any complaints to them and not Bethesda, windows or us.

As for MAC, you must be running MS Windows as that is what Oblivion runs under.

Thanks for the help! That's too bad. I found some that are said to work with D2D and will try those. I also had to update the game quite a few times and now it looks more like how others described. Prior to the update I had only the settings folder, and now I have the whole shabang. However some mods are in rar format, which isn't really compatible with a mac, so I've been converting them to zip. When I open up the converted mod it looks wrong. Is this a conversion issue? Does anyone have any suggestions as to a good converter or another option.

7-zip will handle rar as well as nearly any other compressed format you are likely to run into.

BETHESDA? OBLIVION? I'm not too sure about the mac, but is the situation really the same for Dragon age developed by Bioware?

EDIT: I havn't looked that much into those tutorials you listed, but the "mod/Manifest.xml" files might not exists in mods that are not Dazips when you download them. If they are .rar files they are likely supposed to be installed in a completely different way. I would guess that you would just extract them (after converting them to zip I suppose, if mac doesn't like them), and put them in an overide folder. If that doesn't work, please give us an example of a mod you have trouble with and we will hopefully find a process that works for you.

I'm confused about which game is giving you problems, but presuming

a) You mean Dragon Age,

and;

b) You're running the PC version under WINE, or some other emulator on your Mac;

Then the D2D version shouldn't have any special problems with mods. (Although there might be a slight top-level folder-structure change that the D2D install makes compared to the vanilla retail-disc one.) With over 3GB of DA mods running on my rig at any one time, I've had a little practice getting them to work!

After reading it, please feel freee to ask about specific issues.
