First, make sure that the compatabilitiy mod that is supplied with better cities is located in the right spot. It has to be under the city that it modifies (Bravil) whether it be under the combined esp or separate esp that adds Bravil Better Cities to the game. A BOSS run will help in this regard.
Second, you can try activating the next part of the quest, which skips some dialog with Rathmer, but should help you get on the right track.
try typing this in the console (leave out the quotes): "SetStage ARMysteriousGlyph 30"

I was just having some problems with this quest (albeit different ones) like the game crashing if I tried selecting it in the quest log, but I'm a long time fan of this mod so to help you two along I have two tips that might help yall out.
Thanks for your tips, I typed the console command and the quest was able to proceed...for 1 more stage at least. When I acquired the burned script and returned to Rathmer, he again doesn't have any quest dialogue as well as custom voiceover, instead just generic dialogue options. Thus I cannot proceed the quest further again
I tried all the methods I could think of (attack him, disable and enable him), but nothing could make him talk...
I've been using Boss and Wrye Bash for years, and I also have a general understanding about what types of mods might conflict with others. But in this case I really don't see how Rathmer would have no dialogues, since I have the compatibility patches needed for Unique Landscapes and all other NPCs so far in this mod doesn't present the same problem. It also seems unlikely that mods altering landscapes and cities would prevent NPCs in other mods from their custom dialogues, or at least this is the first time I've encountered it. So I'm also wondering if I should try reinstalling this mod and see if that solves the problem, but my character is in rather high level so I don't want to start all over again.
Anyway, I think I'd need to skip another quest stage again, so could you tell me where I can find all the quest stage console command for this mod? Much appreciated!
Edit: Geez, I suddenly noticed that the patches I have are for Unique Landscapes, not Better Cities. The official site doesn't mention any patch for Better Cities, so where can I find it??
Edit2: I randomly tried "setstage armysteriousglyph 60" and was able to skip quest stage. After I went back to Verus the quest seemed to continue perfectly. Finally I can finish this quest! I hope Rathmer would be the last problem I encounter.

In response to post #12120040.I'm playing this mod for the first time and have this exact same issue... I've done everything my fairly inexperienced mind can come up with but haven't found a solution or any mod conflicts, and can't find any info on this problem online. Rathmer does not acknowledge that the quest is active... no related dialog option, and no voiced lines.
If you manage to work around it or you get advice from someone, please let me know. Even a console command to get around it would be fine. I'd love to keep playing this questline, it's making me sad![]()
When you talk to Rathmer for the first time, you can type "setstage armysteriousglyph 30". This will advance your quest and direct you to Leyawiin. After you've obtained the charred transcript and returned to Rathmer, he probably still doesn't have dialogue (in my situation). You can type "setstage armysteriousglyph 60", and the quest will advance. When you go back to Verus the quest should proceed without problem, at least in my situation.
Hope this helps, good luck!

You're definitely going to want to get that Better Cities patch for Lost Spires, and there are two ways to do that. The most common way is to make sure that you have Lost Spires installed before you install Better Cities, and it will automatically install the patch for that mod. You can of course reinstall Better Cities again to do this, or:
To manually do it, you can find the .esp in the Better Cities omod/zip file and just throw it in your data folder manually.
Better Cities doesn't necessarily just touch on buildings, but does in fact change and even adds NPCS so there could be some stray script that is actually causing the conflict for which they made a patch. The latest version of Better Cities still has the patch even.
I'm actually much further in the mod as of right now that you are, and I haven't experienced any more problems from it (that aren't covered in the main faq on the website. A minor bug.), and I do indeed have the Unique Landscapes and the Better Cities patches installed. I hope that is somewhat comforting
P.S. Make sure to put the Better Cities patch in the right place, i.e, run BOSS

In response to post #12466632.You can find quest id's and their stage numbers using a great program called TES4edit, and you can get that here http://www.nexusmods...on/mods/11536/?

Now that you've mentioned it, I do recall that Better Cities omod has a compatibility patch option for The Lost Spires, but I wasn't playing this mod back then so i didn't install it. I think I would just find the esp and install it manually, hope that makes my later quest free of conflict.
Again thanks for your help, you did me much favor

Where did you get the lost spires, no matter how often i try their web page is not there.
I got it just a couple of weeks ago from www.lostspires.com
Click on downloads in the upper right corner- hopefully it works for you, I'm not too far into it myself but it's the most in-depth quest mod I've yet played.

The quest's story is on par with the average Bethesda faction quest, but longer, with a few (rather predictible) plot twists. It uses several narrative threads that at first seem unrelated, which many Beth quests don't even attempt. I found the characters very well portrayed, and more memorable than most Bethesda characters. Voice acting is surprisingly good for a mod, and in some parts much more human and emotional than vanilla stuff, but the recording and volume levels are uneven. One or two actors are IMO as good as Bethesda voice actors. I found two of them a bit cringe-worthy and the rest average.
Dungeons are huge and labyrinthic, and integrate just enough new assets that you won't get the usual impression of recycled pieces from vanilla dungeons. I did get the impression of being lost underground in a dangerous place much more than in Oblivion dungeons; however at the end I was tired of dungeon crawling and just ran through the last missions in God mode. They made reskinned variants of monsters, and there are a few unique surprises. Boss fights are pretty cool, but unfortunately they had to put modern pumping music and silly threatening voices for the bosses, which took me right out of the athmosphere.
Make sure to check out the FAQ on the official site for workarounds if some quest scripts break or you don't listen to an important clue and you get stuck. http://www.lostspire.../pages/faqs.htm
All in all a mod of surprising quality which is close to feeling 100% professional. Highly recommended!
