on PC skyrim when dual wielding either weapons or spells and trying to swap to dual wielding the other it seems to bug out and the only hand I can change is the left one unless I do an elaborate thing.

Basically what I have to do is swap from dual wielding fire spells to dual wielding melee weapons and then put on one hands lightening spell and then go back to melee and unequip the other sword and then go back to spells where I can finally get lightning to go on to the 2nd hand >_<

you'd think there would be a way to swap from dual wielding one type of spells to another type without all this 10 min or so of hopping around to melee and all that xD

Kinda confused how this is a spoiler (was under the impression a spoiler was purely storyline ruining) but apparently it is since Buddah kicked me off chat for posting spoilers.

Anyone know if there is a faster way to swap from dual wielding one type of weapons/spell to another?

Are you favouriting the weapons and spells you want to use? Then just press Q and quick-equip them in a matter of seconds. It isn't super-fast but it does take only 5seconds if that to switch between equips in both hands. Unless you are just frustrated with the system as it is of course, otherwise, pressing F on the spells/weapons in the inventory/magic menus so they are accessable "favourites" via the "q" favourites menu at any time for quick switching is the only way as of yet...

I have already maxed out my Destruction Magic and just use lightning bolts on everyone, lol. Dual spells are nice.

Yeah the problem is there being no way to choose what hand the spell equips to, I try and swap from dual fire spells to dual electric and no matter if I right or left click the only hand the spell equips to is left unless my right hand is totally empty and the only way I can empty it is to have a weapon in one hand and a spell in the other and take off the weapon. hence why swapping takes 5 mins or so of menu hopping between weapons and spells.

For example I have dual wield of flame spell

1. left click electric spell and electric goes on my left hand.
2. no matter if I right click or left click electric won't go on my right hand, all that happens is that my left hand swaps back and forth between flame spell and electric spell.

I am having a similar issue. Currently, Clairvoyance is stuck in the right hand slot, and unable to be replaced (a sword can not longer be put in the right hand). I do not have the illusion dual wield spec, however, I am able to equip Clairvoyance in my right hand, or right and left hand. I do have the destruction dual spell perk. I believe the major commonality is that I had also tried to select a flame spell to be the dual wielded spell.

I recently modified my hotkeys (swapped M1 and M2. Which also gave me a problem because M1 would not take the position, but not confirm after selection), however, resetting the keyboard controls did not fix the issue.

Any suggestions?

First of all, I don't know where people get the idea that you need the perks to dualwield spells.
The perks only increase the effect if you are using the same spell on both hands. You can use them without the perk too, but won't get that bonus.

Then, try the following, set the spells you want to use as favorites. Open the favorite menu. Mouse over a spell (don't click!) and press a hotkey between 1 and 8 to assign it.
Now, for example: Sparks 1, Flames 2. If you press 1 twice, you equip sparks on both hands. if you press 2 twice, flames.

In case you really bugged out and that doesn't work, try this mod: www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=88
Also, did you disable xbox controller in the ingame options?

I have the same problem. What these guys are trying to say (I was confused reading this) is pretty much no matter what they do if there is something equipped in the right hand be it magic or any type of weapon; Another magic spell cannot be put into that hand. The only way to do so is to equip a weapon and unequip it until the hand is empty (sometimes the previously equipped thing will jump into that hand with you unequip it).

EDIT:

I'll have to try what you suggested saldu

I am having a very similar problem. There is clearly something wrong with the equipping of spells.

My issue is this:

I can only equip Flames in my right hand. I can put sparks, heal, flames, rune, etc. in my left hand, but no matter what I try to put in my right hand, it always ends up as flames.

In fact, the second I put ANY spell in my left hand, the R symbol appears next to the Flames spell. This is true whether or not I EVER even scroll to flames. As a result, the only spell I can Dual Cast is Flames.

Sparks, Heal, Fireball, etc. are only ever cast from my left hand.

I can equip 2-handed weapons, and when I do, they equip properly, but if I unequip them and and left with bare fists, the next spell, whatever it is, that I try to put in either my R or L hand, automatically puts Flames in my right hand. It is freakin' bizarre.

Has anyone encountered this or have any solution they can think of?

Have I somehow set "bind flames to R" without realizing it?

Reset your bindings to default. Save. Exit game. Restart. Rebind. That fixed dual-wielding daggers for me. (After the patch.)

You need to bind to number keys, or equip and unequip a weapon... Bethesda dropped the ball basically.

Gotta hope Bethesda makes a good PC patch, or wait until January for the construction kit.
