my morrowind character has a lot of books. he really doesnt even want them. he doesnt plan to read them, or pretend to have read them. he keeps them around because he is very proud that he has such a large collection and didnt pay for a single one. but his collection is not displayed properly.

sure, his personal god of convenience has built him a house with plenty of room in the library, but he determined that he was too lazy to stack and rotate the books one by one until the shelves were full.

what he really needs is a magic (scripted) bookcase that can be used like a container, but will automatically arrange his books for him.

i suppose this is possible due to the existance of the armor mannequins, but i really know nothing about how to do that sort of thing.

I'm not sure how good this would work, the bookcase would have to equip the items, which would require every book in the game to be adjusted to a new item type, and woudl require the bookshelves to be NPC's, dropping frame rates severly...
