Hi All

My brother just got bought DVD but he has no internet connection and is saying that during installation it first installs STEAM and then tries to update Steam. As steam can't update, the process goes no further. There appears to be an ICON on the desktop, but when you click on it says "STEAM EXE Main exception - to run Steam you must have internet connection". Which unfortunatley, he doesn't have.
Any ideas guys?

Sorry friend, you're out of luck. You can still install the game from the DVD but to activate (and play) Skyrim, Steam needs an active internet connection. No way to bypass that legally, and seeking illegal ways here will earn you a ban...

The good news is that if you can take your PC to a friend's house with internet, you can activate the game and patch it up. Then when you go back home, you can play without the need of an internet connection. I have the same problem as you, but once I installed Steam and the game, I can play at home. I will still have to drag my PC to a friend's house again to patch, once again when Bethesda fixes the key binding issue.
