I can not get this quest to start. I msut have entered and exited windhelm over 100 times. I've tried exiting and entering the door traveling away and back. I can't get the body and group to appear at the cemetary at night. This is pissing me off because without this I can't buy the house here because the steward keeps talking about some bad business or some crap every time I try to buy the house(I have finished the stormcloak quests completely and I am the Jarl's "friend" so the buy house command is availible). I have also tried using the setstage commands and completequest commands for the quest to no avail. I still can't buy the house or start the quest either way.



On a side note, I also can't get a misc quest called "go to winter college", or something along those lines, to finish. I've already beaten the entire mage's quest and am now the arch mage and apparently I still haven't been there?

If you ever figure this out, lemme know. It's driving me insane.

I really hope this is in the first patch from Bethesda, because apparently this one is bugged out the wazoo.

I'm having this exact problem, and bumping this to the front in hopes someone will see this, and so I don't have to make a new identicle post since this is already conveniently here, does ANYONE know how to get this quest to start??? >.<

Crap nevermind... you did the Dark Brotherhood didn't you? >.>

I didn't do the dark brotherhood line. I killed the head chick when she had me do the initiation test, then wiped out the brotherhood. I can't get the Blood on Ice quest to start either.

I did do the dark brotherhood questline. However this is completely ridiculous. I thought when they released the game it was stated that no quest will break another quest. Not only that, I don't give a crap about this quest. What I really want is the windhelm house which I can't get until this is completed. Besides that fact, I've read about people who finished the db quests and it still worked because it spawned another random npc to get killed.

When you did the "setstage" command did you type "setstage MS11 100" so it brings it to full completion?

I tried entering that exact command, and it didn't work. No response at all. No quest in the quests list.

Man, I can't wait until the SDK is out. A few months afterward, there'll probably be an unofficial patch with hundreds of fixes.
